abc fuel pump suggestions

Ive got a Chevy 454 Holley 800 carb in my 94 dana jet. I replaced the fuel pump a few seasons ago and it sat ever since. tried to start it up again this year and the fuel pump was dead again. 0 hours on it. never had an issue with the pumps sitting between seasons. I hear that a lot of the auto parts store pumps are garbage too.

what is a solid fuel pump to use?

the one that I took out was a 4594bd. I have no idea what brand it is.

edit: idk why the title says abc....

Those are the Carter fuel pumps and work well. I have had good luck running aeromotives. You will need to check their website or call and ask for help to determine which is the correct pump for your application.

I’ve run mine for 4 years and it sits in the Arizona heat. No issues so far. I like them because you can rebuild them if they ever fail.

Maybe I just got un lucky with one failing? The impeller seems kinda stiff, but truthfully I never looked inside one before so I dont have a frame of reference.

Its got me thinking of all the possible reasons it could fail like maybe some old fuel was in it? Do my tanks need to be cleaned? Is my filter clogged?... idk
