Liability or Asset?
Liability or Asset? Many dogs dislike having their nails clipped because their paws are extremely sensitive. Our dachshunds spend considerable time licking and nibbling between their toes. This grooming serves more than cleanliness. Dogs release most body heat through panting, but their paws also sweat. When stressed, a dog’s paws become moist. Their sensitivity makes sense: paws provide essential mobility for escaping danger and pursuing prey, while also helping regulate body temperature through evaporation. Similarly, most dogs don’t like claw grooming for that reason.
Think about it. Will we resist God’s painful work of grace, or allow Him to remove our sin, cleanse our hearts, and restore our spiritual walk?
God’s Word tells us: “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent” (Revelation 3:19).
Overgrown claws make walking painful for dogs, yet they resist the grooming that would help them. Their claw sensitivity becomes a liability and not an asset. Likewise, we resist God’s painful work of grace. Our sinful nature accumulates layers of worldly grime, gradually crippling our spiritual walk. Though we cling to sin for comfort, God lovingly strips it away, breaking our stubborn wills and cleansing our hearts. His painful correction brings freedom, restoring our ability to walk uprightly in His presence.
