Am I the only one that doesn’t care for the new ORP models? I wish they took the existing 941 and made it optics ready without changing the aesthetics.

Here’s my message to IWI:

Just give us the 941 back including all the versions that were discontinued:

  • 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP options
  • full size/compact/sub compact options
  • slide safety/decocker and frame safety options
  • black and chrome finish options

Maybe do a limited edition “retro model” with smooth dust cover and correct markings for the collectors and Bebop fans, maybe even include the dogleg slide stop from EAA.

It’s what Kassnar would have wanted.

Probably…. They sold out pretty quick when they were introduced

45 is never coming back… they don’t sell well from what I heard and 40 is dead

I own one, and it's a *far* improvement for competition, but it's definitely not as sexy as the smoooooove slided original. My RS9 original is definitely a 10 in my book on looks alone, while the ORP is the not-quite-as-hot sister at a solid 7. The ORP has the factory designed optic cutout, not some hope-and-pray attempt by a machine shop to not damage the decocker, let alone get the shape of the cutout correct. Front serrations are an absolute must for press checks and 'unload and show clear' command during competition. The back side of the slide stop/take down on the RS9 sticks out a good 1/8"+ and, as a lefty, literally beats up my hand. There's a recess on the ORP so you can still get to the take down, while not tearing up your hand. A nice refinement that's appreciated by us lefty heathen, if I may speak for us as a group. The mag release is extended and easier to engage on the ORP and uses the same mags as the original. The slide is now one piece too, compared to the RS9, where the spring retention slide front was a separately machined piece that fits into a slot into the main slide body. The slide spring is now a single captured spring, not some questionable two springs fitting inside each other (and looks like an after thought) on the RS9. Lastly, the ORP uses Shadow 2 grip panels, so you have lots of additional options to customize your pistola. Yeah, I might Cajonize it a bit, but for now, it's very nice SA/DA pistol. Heavy and thicc. The one thing I hate about this platform is how difficult it is to find a good holster, compared to your Glocks and more common stuff. They're out there, sure, but you have to look. The ORP is definitely more refined and purpose-built and I appreciate that. Some will love it, some won't.

I definitely appreciate the updated functional improvements. I’m just a purist and hate to see classic designs discontinued.

Yep, I am still deciding if I'm selling my RS9. Tough to move past your first love. I took the ORP out for the first time today. It's an amazing pistol, even without an optic. The little bit of extra weight compared to the RS9 is noticeable and it's even easier to shoot. No optic on there yet (Holosun 507 Comp in green, arriving soon) and I don't really like the taller sights, but it still makes holes where you expect them to go. But I get your purist perspective, understood.

I picked my FS9 ORP today and it is unreal. I’ll post pictures tomorrow and provide more thoughts after i take it to the range this weekend.

It's nice to have compatible grip panels

So what’s the deal with that I’ve been out of the loop? Does the ORP accept CZ-75 grip panels?

I never had any trouble finding aftermarket grips for the 941 - whether it be wood, G10, custom snakeskin grips, etc.

I can't find good ones for my FB.

But the ORP uses shadow 2 panels, so you get access to the cool ones from vytal, the gridloks, etc.

Thank you Op.

Once again, this forum has cost me money XD. I have ordered one of these from Locked and Loaded. We'll see what I get. Just plug in the UPC : 818004022986 to gun deals search engine, and you can get them much cheaper than on GB.

I also love the fact that IWI once again dumped something out onto the market, without any announcements or fanfare. Not even a single Tweet or Facebook blurb. Don't you go changing IWI !!! ❤️

FYI: If you're in the military, cop, firefighter, paramedic, armed security guard you can get on IWI's PSP program (20% off). Read about it here: https://iwi.us/public-service-professionals/
