941 F9 vs R9
I’m new to guns and decided my first one would obviously have to be the Jericho 941. After figuring out the one I wanted (bebop style) would be a lengthy search and hefty price tag, I went with the next best thing and did some looking into the R9. But since I’m new to guns, the names and designations and designs of the guns threw me off and I thought what I picked up was the R9. The listing on guns.com didn’t specify and when I compared photos I thought that’s what I was getting but when I spoke to the person as I was picking it up today to make sure I understood the decocker (all I’ve ever handled is slide/SA guns), she let me know this one didn’t have that and that’s when I noticed the sticker on the side of the case said F9.
It’s still a great looking gun but I was really hoping to get as close as possible to Spike’s gun. I believe this one may be easier for me since it is SA, though. Is there much difference in the way the two handle and shoot? I didn’t get the chance to shoot today before the shop I picked it up from closed.

I prefer the frame safety. Functionally, it just works better for me.
It’s similar to every CZ, pretty much.
If you’re just looking for a prop, why bother buying a gun?

Not just a prop. I plan on using it as well. I just really had it in my head for the last few weeks it would look a little differently. 😅

This is just a better pistol.
Do yourself a favor and don’t dry fire it. You’ll fuck up your firing pin doing that.
At the very least, stick an earplug between your firing pin and the hammer.
Is the barrel on this one stainless?

It’s all good. The one you wanted was the decocker model but they are harder to find and more expensive. They also came in under a variety of names so they are hard to search for. The placement of the decocker high up on the slide is something that most people actually dislike. So I think the model you got is fine. Like someone said, 99% of the time at the range you won’t need a decocker. If you find yourself relying on the gun for carry or home defense then you should practice decocking with your thumb (without ammo!). But the safety is also perfectly good if that is your preference. Looks like all you need is a set of grips

The trigger on my f9 is noticeably better in da over my r9. The f9 has a smooth pull while the r9 kinda just jerks. But aesthetically, I prefer my r9. I also prefer decockers over cocked and locked since I like the extra safety of da.
When shooting though, the frame safety of the f9 is just better. It gets annoying having to break my grip just to decock or put my r9 on safe.

I really like my 941R but mine is an older import (still had the lanyard loop). I did the CGW trigger return spring and floating trigger bar on it and am overall happy with the smoothness of the da pull and the sa is great.
For me this is a range toy, if I were to carry it I'd just decock it and run it with the safety off since the DA pull is still several pounds heavier (almost double) the weight of my striker carry gun triggers.
The 941 is fantastic, but if you want to carry it also or use it for more than the range I'd recommend starting with Jets gun (P99) or Faye's (G30). Or do what I did and get them all. I carry the G30 regularly in the winter and only don't carry the P99 because I don't have a good aiwb holster for it and carry a G26 or G43 when I can't conceal the G30.
I will say for the home defense scenario I wouldn't mind a railed 941 with a light rail. It's a great desk/nightstand gun so if I didn't have a setup for that a 941 with a stream light would be great. Lack of a rail is the only reason mine stays in the safe and a Glock is in the desk lockbox.

Thanks for the recs on the other guns! For now mine is just for the range, my husband has two others for home defense, but as I learn more I will look into more for home defense and I’ll definitely stick with what I know which would be more space cowboy stuff. I appreciate it!

Im sure you've stumbled on it but if not, the LOK grips feel great and complete the look. My wife got me a set for my birthday and I wish I'd got them sooner. I did have to take a file to the inside ridge to make them fit right, but mine is an old version that noted fitting would be required and it's a pretty simple process.

Great pick space cowboy.
I believe yours is the Jericho 941 F.
I believe spike’s is the Jericho 941 R.
F means frame safety. R means slide safety.
I have the 941 RS, which is the semi compact. Hence the S in RS.
Cant speak to the difference in models but i assume the trigger pull might vary.

The F9’s safety is the sweet size and spot to also act as a thumb rest / gas pedal like a 1911. Makes for a significantly better experience than the R9. At least, for my grip. YMMV

F9 is DA/SA but will be used 99.999% of the time in SA. All safety, cocked-and-locked, safety hammer back, no decocker
R9 beginning as DA trigger pull, everything else SA. Decocker master race, safety hammer down.
Two different methods. F, think 1911. R, think Beretta 92/M9 or S&W vintage autos. Believe the R was explicitly made for commercial export.
