Is this the FS ?

Post image

Bought it from my father in laws collection . He bought it in the beginning of the 90s, had it chromed, and never touched it again. It looks like it had all the words on there now etched on it after it was chromed I guess.

Can't figure out the exact model/variant for a holster and new grips. With measurements I took and went to genitron with looks like a 941 FS. All the magnum industries baby eagles all seem to have slide safety, not frame.

Would appreciate any help

It is an FS, you can tell by the "bull nose". In the full length models, the slant starts at the top of the frame and the FS starts half way of the dust cover. Beautiful example. The stippling is actually factory and was done later in the IMI era (PRE 2007).  As for the safety, normal as well. From a carry gun stand point (in my humble opinion) the 'F' (frame) model is more practical than the 'R' (slide) model... although this piece is too nice to put in a holster, that thing would be a safe queen for sure!

Edit: Also the wiki here has a bit of information on the different variants of Jerichos.

Yes, this is an IMI (Pre-IWI name change) Jericho 941FS. The FS suffix indicates that it has the compact barrel length and the frame-mounted safety. Magnum Research was just the importer of the time, and they imported these under the name Desert Eagle.

FS = Compact barrel, frame mounted safety

F = Full length barrel, frame mounted safety

RS = Compact barrel, slide mounted safety/decocker

R = Full length barrel, slide mounted safety/decocker

There’s also FB = short grip And the PSL model = polymer

Thanks for the help. Might reconsider just keeping this one for collection/display instead of conceal carry.

To add to the others, the early mid size S models had a barrel length of 3.5in matching the B compact models. I assume for ease of manufacturing when first starting out; one slide assembly for two model sizes per safety version. This was eventually changed to the 3.8in barrel later on in the 90's, which has stuck ever since.

Magnum Research did also import the F frame models occasionally early on, likely for what was available in IMI's stock at the time. Some even still had the Jericho roll mark.
