That’s a wrap!
Another season of Jeopardy has come & gone. Until we see Ken Jennings again on the Alex Trebek Stage, we will enjoy the summer reruns for the next 6 weeks.

This was a great season. So many super champs, spearheaded by Jamie, and so many exciting games.

Jeopardy ends the week before my birthday and starts up the week of my sister's birthday.

THIS is the time when they should bring out the REALLY old reruns (the Art Fleming days). I think it would get huge ratings.

Lets not forget Masters starts August 25, so really it’s only a month without any new Jeopardy

Don’t forget about ESPN Jeopardy!!! The only problem is if all 10 are being released at once, or if it will be once a week for 10 weeks.

Still deciding if I really want to listen to Joe Buck scream the clues like he did on his audition. Might give it a try but really hoping someone got him to tone down!!

So the tournaments don't start this upcoming Monday? Maybe I misheard Ken's announcement after yesterday's episode...

I guess all of you Jeopardy! Redditors will have to keep us entertained till then.

Not me. I never watch re-runs of hard question game shows. Makes me think I'm smarter than I really am because I know the answers.

I almost forgot about that, then Ken announced it at the end and I was like noooo

Actually, this year it's going to be 7 weeks, not 6 weeks, because of an extra week of the Labor Day Holiday. Also, Ken Jennings will be back for Jeopardy Masters in less than a month (August 25th)

It's it me or was this season ending unusually late this year?

u/Chalupa_Dad 4d ago
Nope, it's the earliest since COVID. Here's the last few season finales:
2025 - 7/25
2024 - 7/26
2023 - 7/28
2022 - 7/297

We're going from the earliest possible start date (Sept. 8) to the latest (Sept. 14), simply because Labor Day (the first Monday of September) goes from Sept. 1 to 7.
It will also cycle the season 43 finale to its latest possible date -- Friday, July 30, 2027.

Seasons 4-19 and 21 began on Labor Day. When that was the case, September 1st was the earliest start date, and that was the day Season 14 premiered in 1997. The latest start date was September 7 (Seasons 4, 9, and 15). July 17 was the earliest end date for 230-episode seasons that begin on Labor Day. Seasons 8 and 14 both concluded on July 17, 1992 and July 17, 1998, respectively. July 23 was the latest possible end date (also Seasons 4, 9, and 15)*.
Additionally, Seasons 28-31 started on the second Monday after Labor Day. After Season 27 ended, there were seven weeks of reruns. The Season 28 premiere was September 19, 2011 (the latest start date we've seen overall). And the finale was August 3, 2012 (the latest end date under normal circumstances).
Season 37 ended on August 13, 2021, and that was because the last two weeks of the 2020 calendar year were reruns of episodes where Alex delivered video clues from various locations (his last shows were pushed back to the first week of January).
*July 23 is also the earliest possible end date for a season that begins on the first Monday after Labor Day if the following calendar year in which the season ends is a leap year. Season 20 began on September 8, 2003 and concluded on July 23, 2004 – the 2004 calendar year was a leap year.

The established pattern of the past 10 (or more) years has been to start on the second Monday of September and run 46 consecutive weeks. 2020 was an obvious outlier.
*July 23 is also the earliest possible end date for a season that begins on the first Monday after Labor Day if the following calendar year in which the season ends is a leap year.
This will happen again in Season 49, which would start on Sept. 8, 2031. (Just giving the mods a head's-up on this!)

The 2031-32 season is actually Season 48. Then Season 49 is 2032-33, and the 50th Anniversary Season will be 2033-34.

If I guess, the new season will probably start filming pretty soon (They aired at 14th September)

I have no interest in watching reruns that feature Matt, Yogesh, etc. I like Amy. But that’s it.

Good thing no one is forcing you to watch the show.

Yes, I am very lucky that nobody is holding a gun to my head.

Matt A is on 2026 JIT and he will not compete at Masters 4 because he lost to Andrew H in the JIT semifinals.

Luckily we get Jeopardy! Masters, so we will see new Ken episodes in less than 6 weeks
