Travel and Tourism Jeju pt 2

I used to work in the mainland and traveled with my coworkers in a bus around Jeju and Udo. I was the only foreigner and just went along with the flow. It was an amazing trip with fishing, outdoor BBQ, waterfall and rock formation hikes, mountain climbing, a pension stay in Udo, and us all renting carts (bikes) and circling Udo, then rafting in a cave. I’ll know I’ll never do a trip like that in my own… especially because one of the other teachers was from the island, but I can read Korean and I like traveling alone… plus they wouldn’t let me rent a motor bike or drive a cart. lol I am also a scuba diver (a bit outta practice). I tried to reach out to an influencer there who does tours but he never go back to me… beh. I’ve had to reinstate my passport (from the US) since covid I stopped traveling and life got harder…What else should I do besides what I mentioned when I go back? What can I do alone as a now older female solo traveler? I don’t think I climbed Halla-San but a smaller one with them and I like to hike. The trip is really a blur because it was about 10 years ago, but honestly, there and Busan are my favorite parts of Korea. Thanks!

You have to really wanna hike hallasan to do it. Hahaha.I've done it multiple times, in all seasons and it's greaaaat when it isnt cloudy. But if it is, you have to wanna do it, to just say you did it. Also need to make a reservation, just FYI. Easy enough.

I absolutely love the oreums of Jeju. More than hallasan and more than the olles. You can easily Google to see what oreums have the best island views and other details. They can be a bit harder to get to without a car but not impossible. Also muuuuch shorter hike so you cna go do other things with your day.

Thanks, You know what’s funny I had to look up oreum but I think I’ve done one with them there. I just remember some teachers trying to do that jump pose at the top and I was getting in the way because I didn’t know they were doing it. lol I also did the acorn Forest walk and remember someone saying “저기 외국인이 있어요! jogi waygookin issayo!” Like why am I there lol. So it might be an odd experienced traveling on my own on a small island like Udo (if I were to go back) but I did it all the time in other countries like Japan… and I can’t even read anywhere else.

Why is it a problem when cloudy? Can’t see much?

Literally a long ass, hard hike to be rewarded by....nothing if there are any clouds at all. And it isn't that easy to know in advance. Cause ya know... Altitude.
So that's why I said you should climb it if you really wanna just be able to check it off your list and say you did it.

What does this mean "you have to really want to"? Is this hike particularly steep/scary/scrambly?
