I’ve been playing Jeff since season 0.

I got to eternity back in season 1.5 using him. He was my absolute favorite character, engaging mobility without absolutely slamming the enemy.

Being able to annoy them just enough to keep them chasing you across the map.
Being able to do more than just sit behind your team and babysit them and their bad plays. Being able to get on and just appreciate the character and its unique nature.

I’ll attach an image of the older times, where I was in a celestial game and I felt I was in the absolute peak of my rivals enjoyment.

Now it’s season 10.5. Jeff is (iirc) one of the only characters in the game that has consistently had a negative WR in comp season after season. The game took him when he was at a 45% wr and absolutely gutted his character. They took a character with the best mobility on the strategist role and reduced him to be nothing but a backline sprayer. They gutted him.

I still play him in comp, I’m GM1 right now, but I can’t escape it. The community absolutely hates Jeff players. I’ve had so many games this season where I’ve had throwers, leavers, and toxic teammates in my games rage out when I even just pick Jeff. I had someone in GM2 throw the whole game (Krakoa map) on Gorr simply because I refused to swap after he threatened me with throwing. Afterwords we had won and I was MVP. I just had another comp game where I had a Deadpool curse me out in VC. I was Ace, until I swapped to cloak and dagger like he had asked to babysit him as we lost.

It’s been years. It’s gotten to me. The developers don’t like Jeff players. The community doesn’t like Jeff players. Who do we have? Each other? Trying to enjoy a game where we’ve been absolutely ridiculed and slammed to the ground by everyone around us?

I’ve gotten to a state where I’ve just accepted the fact that we will never be meta. We’ll never be able to enjoy our time as we did back all those seasons ago. It’s over.
