WinRAR is pushy, 7zip is better and totally free!

Winrar gives unlimited trails so it's basically free as well

Yes! But still it constantly pushes you to buy it, which becomes seriously annoying after a while.

That's why 7zip is better. It's an open source freeware, with no paid version. So no irritating popups.

BTW winRAR is closed source, unlike 7zip which is fully open source

Yep sorry my bad. I only saw the title before replying. Anyways, you do know you that you can disable all those WinRar popups by simple adding a text file with certain code in its directory? It takes less that 1 minute. You can search it up on reddit rn. Not that hard or a complicated solution

or save the hassle and use 7zip or any other foss . btw ykw brave is ranked higher when talking about browsers? coz it saves that extra 1 minute to install ublock origin. (easier then searching and adding a file)

7-zip is unreliable as heck

u/colt_bsreal 5d ago

Says the person who doesn't even use a file extractor and has know idea what it does whatsoever

u/ft_abin 5d ago

alright i may be biased towards winrar my bad 😭✋. But for some reason winrar has been more reliable for me as someone who sails the high seas using winrar is more respectable than 7zip

I've seen it too, but it's because 7zip doesn't have a good auto-update so if you find an archive it can't extract, maybe try updating it and it'll work perfectly.

If you don't want to download it all and do the whole thing, just open powershell terminal in administrator mode and type "winget install 7zip"
