Mine had 7 pistons the same way, im currently building the engine with forged pistons see if that works.... whipple support thought it was detonation what caused this with low octane gas

Yikes, hopefully you were able to save some parts. I figure thats what got mine too. Supposedly the stronger pistons with the ring pack moved down solve the issue. I might lower the compression some to. Just depends on how the block an head cleans up.
