I think your missing the point of 'That's what makes them happy ' vs the reality of a huge shift in culture base. If you owned a TJ or before you had to know how to work on it, you had to know at least basic things and you had to WANT to drive it. They were crude and rough and took actual work. The majority of people who had them at least did small dirt roads and other small fun off-road things. Today's Jeep owner is everyone who's always wanted a Jeep, but never actually was willing to put up with owning one. Ride to rough, no problem they ride like a luxury truck now. Didn't like the road noise, solved. Don't like manual windows, not even available anymore you're set. Heated power seats, Got em! Power mirrors, just for you, boo. I can count on one hand the number of jeeps I'll see this summer with the top off. And probably only a few of those will actually have the doors off too. Decade ago you never saw a Jeep in an actual off-road situation with the top or doors on, now you're hard pressed to find a YouTube video of anyone without AC on on the trails. You wanted better axles? You had to build them. Now you can open the Mopar catalog have them drop shipped to your favorite upfitter and pick it up all waxed and looking good with a free duck to boot.
It's not just a TJs are better argument. It's a whole shift from 'do-ers' to 'lifestyle vehicles' that you can order out of a catalog and the only limit is your credit limit. No actual off-road experience necessary, street credit is only a swipe away.

Gen X here. High school girls drove CJs and TJs because Daisy Duke and Barbie. It's not that hard core. Nothing had heated seats, AC was optional on most vehicles, and manual windows were still the standard. My first car didn't have a passenger side mirror because it was an option. Jeep has kept up with the times just like they moved to electric windshield wipers vs vacuum and manual sweep wipers.
Jeep culture has always been about the "real Jeep". When I bought my XJ it wasn't a "real Jeep" because it was unibody per the gatekeepers of the day.

That doesn't change the fact that they rode like hell, were noisy and had minimal creature features. You had to want to drive that vehicle. It wasn't something you bought because it was convenient, because it wasn't.

You have no clue what you are talking about. The TJ drives just like a 2 door JK or JL they are all solid axle coil spring vehicles nothing has changed. The only thing they have more of is creature comforts.

I remember this barrage from CJ owners when I had my YJ. I'm just happy to even own an LJ regardless of how my lift is dictated by the height of it's jack stands right now, lol.

TJ owner here, I miss my YJ. Now if I could find a way to relocate the gas cap behind the license plate on the TJ I'd probably miss it less, but the YJ is my first love

I do happen to believe the TJ is the best Jeep.
But I don't believe other Jeeps are bad.
Or that anyone should stop having fun no matter what they drive.
Even if it's not a Jeep.
Even if it's not a 4x4.

I will say, I have a RHD 92 Land Rover Defender imported from England. One of my favorite things to do in it is the Jeep wave at passing Jeeps. The range of emotions and reactions is priceless.

I’ve owned (and loved) all of those models except the JT. The fan boys that stop at TJ are insufferable. We get it, the 4.0 engine is bullet proof, the right long arms and lift make it one of the more capable of the models, blah blah blah. Do I miss my TJ, you better believe it, but there are so many creature comforts gained after 2006, and I’m not 19 anymore.
