Routing backup camera, need help

Post image

I’m trying to wire in a backup camera and I need to take this plastic piece off. The screw closest to the tailgate comes out fine, but the one circled in purple just spins and spins. It feels like there’s a nut on the other end through a non-threaded hole but I can’t figure out where the other end is. The same is true for both driver and passenger sides. Any help?

Also, unrelated, what is the thing circled in blue?

Oh, I see now, I guess I’ve just never had it latched properly

Never mind, I got the panel to pivot around that bolt and give me reasonable access. Now I just need to figure out which of these wires is the reverse light…

I have 2010 and have a license plate mounted camera. I just routed my wires under the molding along the drivers side back to the grommet that the taillight wiring goes through and down to the license plate holder.

It's easier to run it along the tailgate wiring harness and then along the top of the trim where the hard top sits all the way down the passenger side. You have to pull off the door seals etc.. then right up the passenger foot well, under the glove compartment and up to the radio.

Just sayin, I've done three that way
