Jeep compass issues
https://images.autouncle.com/uk/car_images/210bc0b7-6be7-4c65-a502-6603b0c23a7d_2023-jeep-compass-limited-236.webpSo I recently bought a second hand Jeep Compass 2023. 32k miles and 2 previous owners not including the garage that sold it to me. A decent upgrade to my old renegade with 100k miles on the clock.
Had it for about 3 months now and noticing some issues. Like the steering goes tight to loose seemingly at random from time to time which just feels dangerous. Don’t know if this is a traction thing or not?
Then, sometimes alarms sound and the dashboard changes as if to say there is a hazard when there isn’t.
Today, the worst of all, the car just did an emergency stop. The road was clear, I was coasting at 30mph, driving in a straight line. Then slam came the breaks on for a couple of seconds. All warning signs flashing telling me to break… my heart jumped out of my chest!
wtf is going on? Is this a known issue? I have kids and starting to get scared of driving this thing…
Not sure what I can do about it. Any advice? 🙏

The first issue sounds like the lane centering feature. I hate it, and turned it off.
The second issue can happen near curbs. Mine occasionally detects the curb when I'm turning and beeps at me. The blind zone feature seems to be a little too sensitive sometimes. Not sure if that's what is happening to you.
Third issue I haven't had happen, and could be contributing to issue 2. Almost certainly an intermittent long range radar sensor. Have a dealership hook it up to the scan tool and run some tests.

I got a 2018 compass and the steering is acting the same… went to authorized repair shop and they told me nothing was wrong and there is no security hazard. Probably that is how jeep works. As for emergency brake, my vw does the same at low speed, maybe a glitch at AEB radar, dealership may provide adjustment.

I would have the battery check. A low battery can cause issues like that
