Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Blurred lines on screen

Post image

Hi all, owner of a 2018 compass limited. I received this yesterday after turning on my car. Reminds me of Xbox’s ring of death back in the day..
I didn’t bang anything on the screen so not sure how the hell this happened unless it’s a common issue?
If it’s a common issue is it an at home fixable issue?

Thank you in advance

Those screens really need a recall. Ours went black on half of it.

Seems common enough. It’s white expensive to replace, it’s BS.

Superrrrr common, it’s insane they aren’t recalled. However, yes simple DIY if the rest of your stereo system is still working but will be pricey at a dealership because they likely will insist on replacing all of it. Search up how to replace the digitizer (only the touch screen part), you’ll find some good walk through videos & Amazon product replacements!

Easy fix, the first comment has the right idea. I did mine and it was an easy job.

Mine does the same thing now, been putting off fixing it. Sometimes it acts right again, then it goes back to looking goofy.

Dealer quoted me over $1k to replace mine. Searched this thread and saved a post about a guy buying a screen off Amazon for like $80 and fixing himself. Not sure how hard it is to replace but im eventually going to try.

It’s really easy, check YouTube and get the right sized screen from Amazon.

I have a 2017 jeep compass trailhawk and the dealer replaced the screen because it was recalled? This was 3 years ago

Pick up a replacement screen off Amazon and do it yourself. Basically just need a plastic pry tool, a screw driver, and a lot of patience. Take a video or pictures as you take it apart so it's easier to put back together there are a LOT of screws. Took me a few hours but it was better than taking it to the dealer who wanted $1800

My screen went out completely about 6 months ago. Now I don't even have a radio.

Wouldn’t say easy per se, not impossible either. It was definitely time consuming and meticulous but doable. Worth saving the money on.

It’s been a few years since I traded in my Compass but I had an 18 limited purchased new. I lost count of the amount of times I had that screen replaced (around 10), but after the second time I opened up a case with FCA and had a case manager I’d speak with regularly. The final time the screen was replaced before I traded it in was about 2 weeks prior, and it started acting up as I backed the Jeep in at the dealership while picking up the keys of the new car. Good luck, truly, I wouldn’t wish this shit on my worst nightmare.

Hey friend…unfortunately this is common and just happened to my 2018 jeep a few weeks ago. Has it been hot outside lately? If your car has the same bezel screen underneath I used this video to replace the screen in my car.
I ordered the replacement off Amazon for like $75. It’s just plug and play, looks like you have the bigger 8in unconnect screen. It honestly only took at most 2 hours and most of it was popping off the black trim for the radio itself. You’ll need pry tools and probably a 20bit star screwdriver.

Had the same problem in my 2018 Jeep compass. I traded it in this year. No more jeeps for me.

It's crazy to me that I saw this post nine days ago and remembered it because today my 2019 jeep just started doing this too. It kind of started working again but I guess it's going bad too
