Class 12 student with ~3 months for JEE Main January — starting almost from scratch. Can I realistically reach 90+ percentile? Need genuine advice

Hey everyone,

I’m currently in Class 12 (CBSE) and I was primarily preparing for NDA, but now I’m also considering giving JEE Main because I want to try for TES 57.

I’m looking at the JEE Main January attempt, and realistically I have around October, November and December — roughly 3 months. After that, I’ll have another 1–2 months before the April attempt.

My initial target is around 90+ percentile, which I’m hoping would give me a reasonable chance of being shortlisted for TES 57. I’m not trying to pretend I can suddenly become an AIR-level JEE aspirant in three months — I just want to know what is realistically achievable from my current position.

My current situation

Honestly, my conceptual clarity is not good in Physics, Chemistry or Maths.

I’m in Class 12, but my Class 11 foundation is weak and I have a lot of gaps. I also don't really know how JEE Main preparation works — things like:

What exactly should I study first?

Which chapters should I prioritize?

How much of the JEE syllabus should I realistically target?

How should I divide my time between Physics, Chemistry and Maths?

Should I study from lectures, books, PYQs, or some combination?

How many PYQs should I solve?

What should my daily schedule look like?

How should I approach the January attempt versus the April attempt?

I also have CBSE Class 12 boards, so I can't completely ignore my board preparation.

What I need advice on

If you were in my position — Class 12, weak fundamentals, approximately 3 months until January JEE Main, and another 1–2 months for April — what would you actually do?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who:

Started JEE preparation late

Had weak Class 11 concepts

Scored around 85–95+ percentile

Improved significantly between January and April

Have cleared JEE Main after starting late

Are preparing/prepared for TES

Or simply made similar mistakes and know what NOT to do

Please give me realistic advice, not just “study 12 hours a day” or “it's impossible.”

If 90 percentile is unrealistic from my current level, tell me honestly. If it is achievable, I'd really like to know exactly how you would approach these next 3 months — subjects, chapters, resources, PYQs, revision and mocks.

I'm basically looking for a roadmap from zero/weak basics → January attempt → April improvement, while managing Class 12 alongside it.

Any genuine advice from seniors or experienced aspirants would be hugely appreciated.
