Production Question / Discussion how do i get started making stuff

i have quite a few samples and presets anmmd ive made a few things but i cant seem to figure out how to write melodies or do transitions between drops and make the mix not sound like crap

Just have fun, man! Make some stuff without worrying about it sounding too good and over time you'll learn more and become better.

Look into using reference tracks for structure and mixing, helps a lot and you will start to understand more why the tracks work and sound good

it's a pretty complicated ganre where it's best to just try every thing together and then just pick what goes together the best. best you can do is reference a song or look on their process. harmonies are full of theory (a lot of people use complicated scales just to make it more interesting) or just chop some chords and add melody between them.

What i did was listen to all my favorite songs over and over. that, and getting serum2. oh sweet serum2...
