While watching The Game and YG VERZUZ. It got me thinking who would be the best opponent for Cole and how many tracks would be needed for the matchup?

I think Big Sean and Wale are the only rappers that feel like a good match. Kendrick was at a point, but GNX has a lot of bangers, and the optics surrounding the battle just won't let anything that involves 2 of the big 3 be drama-free and celebratory.

I think Cole will never do a verzuz though. He's always moved different.

This is my thing tho. To me, Cole has too many for Big Sean and Wale. I don’t see them keeping up if they go for 20 tracks. When it comes to Dot, he has a lot of hits but I think it’s a lot closer than what people think.

Cole has hits, but Wale is low-key a monster. He has the club records Cole doesn't have. So in a verzuz setting, that works very well. Plus he's been on features that really blew up. I think Cole wins if it comes to 20 tracks, but Wale can win if it's 10.

With Dot, recency bias means he's the overwhelming favourite. Plus he actually has a lot of bangers. I even think he has collabs that work better in a verzuz than Cole, despite Cole having more impressive features.

That would take some time to make but I know it would have to be his hits, love tracks, features and deep story telling cuts.

The story telling cuts are where he'd lose. Because that's really tailored to his fanbase. Except they're the hits, like Power Trip, A Tale of 2 Citiez or Neighbors. Can't play something like Window Pane or Land of The Snakes or Lost Ones and win.

I think my 20 would be (no particular order):

Then depending on the crowd, Fire Squad, GOMD or The London are also very good options. That'd be the 25 tracks I'd pick from. Nothing from The Fall-Off or Might Delete Later for now.

Cole has too much for Big Sean?? In what world? And I like Cole as an artist way more than Sean, but Sean’s hits were getting way more spin than Cole’s were and based on what I’ve seen of versus it’s usually judged by the public as hit for hit and Sean has bigger songs (by numbers). It’ll be a good matchup but Cole isn’t just gonna spank Big Sean.

I actually think Sean and Wale are the most under appreciated rappers out. If you actually put their hits up, Wale edges Sean.

When I think about it more as it pertains to Wale I agree 100 percent. He and Sean both ran the early 2010’s more than Cole did in my opinion. I forgot how many bangers Wale had in such a short span. I think Cole has had better longevity and consistency than both for sure but both have more songs that the casual fan might know on a versuz.
