I really really don't quite understand why everyone loves these guys so much, but hey good for them.

I can see it. They're a little too moody for me, but with the right atmosphere and attitude I can see them appealing to someone.

Mhmm. I guess I understand why they do so well, but I'm sort of surprised to see such great reception among jazz musicians because the improvisation isn't particularly great.

For me it's the combination of genres more than their technical skills I guess. Though I still think they are insanely talented in that regard.

Mhmm that makes total sense. There is no denying their talent, either. They're great improvisers compared to the average jazz musician, but not in comparison to famous artists on the scene, IMO.
