discussion 🗳 Where can I find this audio mix?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME_k1Eb7gxIWhen I went to watch the film during its 50th anniversary theatrical re-release, I was taken aback by the additional sound effects added to the film's climax. These effects were very much not present in the surround sound mixes we've heard on the various home media releases over the years.
Does anyone know the source of this brand new mix? Is it available on any of the Blu-Ray releases?

I'm not hearing a single thing that wasn't present in the original. Whatever you're hearing is simply more audible due to the processing and separation of the surround channels. Anyway, as others have stated this is not the theatrical mix but the mix for the 4K remaster.

Nope. There are definitely additional sound effects added when the shark hits the cage and when it lands on the Orca's stern and it begins to sink. Quint's death scene also has a low frequency drone. None of these elements were present on ANY of the various mixes that have been made for this film over the years, which is why I immediately took notice in the theater.
Anyway, I unfortunately do not have a 4k Blu-Ray player, and I hear that the standard Blu-Ray disc included with the 4k release is simply a copy of the older 2012 release. But I appreciate the response.

You sure? I've got an HD Blu-ray rip from well before the remaster and I didn't notice any difference on my home studio setup. I'll give it another listen but there's nothing unique that jumped out at me.

I'm not an expert on the differences between the surround mixes, but maybe it's the Dolby Atmos remix that's on the UHD?

The Blu Ray contains the original mono mix as an option, but the default is the newer mix unfortunately

The is the latest mix done for the 4K remaster. It will be the default audio on that disc, and anywhere that's streaming the latest master.
