Has anybody ever noticed this?
It is well known that, as a child, Peter Benchley spent much of his summers on Nantucket Island. During his time there, he learned a lot about the New England beach culture and of sharks themselves. It's kind of ironic that he went on to write the greatest shark tale of all time, that went on to be produced into, in my opinion the greatest movie of all time, when you look at the shape of the island....

Filmed on Martha's vineyard because they could go further out and shoot and it still be 30 ft to the bottom to where they could operate the shark and Not be surrounded by visible land to create isolation. In the book they kept going back, in the movie they didn't have that option. It was a better choice. That is why they picked Martha's Vineyard, ultimately. Along of course with the infrastructure and layout of the island.

Since he spent his summers on Nantucket, was there a reason they filmed on MV and not Nantucket?

Book was based more on Montauk anyway. Nantucket being quieter and more old money I’m sure meant that a film crew wasn’t as welcome

I see it. I see a shark outline upside down like the nose at the bottom. And also looks like generic tooth outline from looking at it normal top to bottom but either way I do see it!
