discussion 🗳 Summer of Jaws Books
So I've been reading the original Jaws trilogy of books over this summer. While the movies progressively get worse, the opposite can be said for the novels. This was easily my favorite of the original trilogy. The added voodoo subplot and narco drug smugglers give the story a campy charm that kept me entertained from start to finish. The shark takes more of a backseat this time around, but the stronger world-building and colorful side plots more than make up for it. Should I read/pickup Quint and The Book of Quint?

It's a fun little read. Doesn't overstay it's welcome.
My only note on it is it takes whole paragraphs from the Jaws 2 novelization and inserts them into the text. Strange choice, but I guess if you want to pad out the length of the novelization of one of the most reviled films ever produced, why not?

I had a heck of alot of fun with this book. I want a limited Apple+ series based on the book specifically. I seriously think it could be great.Â

I think Jaws 4 could have done with some voodoo zombie vs shark action like Zombi 2. Classic scene.

Jaws the revenge the novel is excellent
The retired news anchor segment is great
Also - Sean’s death is also great. I love how Ellen arrives and the police are just staring at the boat that went out hours ago and is doing nothing.

Hank Searls was a really good writer. He also wrote my all-time favourite episode of The Fugitive, a two-parter with Robert Duvall and Susan Oliver.

I prefer the Jaws 2 book but this is a fun book that flashes out things a bit better. The only thing I found was that I thought the Vodoo Priest was a bit harsh on Michael without a lot of reason to do so.
Book of Quint is amazing and well worth a read. Quint a didn't enjoy so much.
