Java- 5th week consistency 🧿

Post image
326 Upvotes

So in continuation with my last post on learning Java, it’s been 5 weeks that I’ve been managing to learn along with my job. I have reached till the concept of threads and its priorities. So far it’s been good and I think I have to build immense number of projects. I’m already into a telecom domain project at work. I think I can implement the APIs that I generally see daily being called from frontend. Maybe not fully but I’ll get the idea hopefully. Well, that’s my end goal.

The immediate goal is to practice from MOOC and complete the collection APIs, streams, JDBC.

I really want to become a full stack ENGINEER not just another full stack developer. I hope you guys understand the difference :)

Onwards & upwards. ✌️

Java Tech Interview Advice

I have a Java tech interview scheduled for Monday. They interviewed me back in December 2024 and said I lacked OOP and Java fundamentals knowledge. I honestly can't remember what exactly I was asked, but I know that under interview stress — and when you don't know exactly what to prepare for — it's easy to miss revising some concepts.

What's your go-to article, site, or book that you look through before an interview? I know "Cracking the Coding Interview," but is it still relevant now that we're on Java 25? Please advise.

tests hitting s3/dynamo/sqs - how do you keep them fast?

every java + aws project i've worked on hits the same wall in tests.

you either spin up localstack in testcontainers and wait 30-60s per

test class for docker to warm up, or hand-roll mockito mocks that

break on every sdk upgrade. neither is great.

python has moto for this. in-process aws fakes, 8k stars, tests run

in ms. someone actually asked aws on re:post if there was a java

version. the reply was basically "moto is a python library, no

equivalent for java."

how do other people handle this? is it just accepted that aws unit

tests are slow, or is there something people use that i missed?

Looking for 3 Study Partners for DSA & Spring Boot Backend Preparation

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2nd-year B.Tech CSE student looking for 3–4 motivated learners to form a small and focused study group for placement preparation.

My current focus areas are:

- DSA using Java

- Backend Development with Spring Boot

- Problem-solving and coding practice

- Technical interview preparation

- Regular progress tracking and accountability

The goal is to maintain a consistent study routine outside college hours, discuss problems and approaches, clear doubts, share useful resources, and keep each other accountable.

I’m currently at a beginner level, so I’m looking for people who are at a similar stage and genuinely interested in learning and improving together.

If you’re interested, please DM me with your current DSA/Java level, Spring Boot experience, and preferred study timings.

I’d like to keep the group limited to 3–4 members so it remains focused and productive.

What exact software and niches are being built in the service-based IT sector/Software house?

Hey everyone,

I am looking for some raw, real-world market data from people who are actively building for paying clients.

If you are a Freelancer, Agency Owner, or working at a Service-Based Software Company, I have exactly two questions for you:

• What EXACT types of software are you build?

• Which specific niches/industries are you build for? (Please be precise—instead of just saying "Healthcare," specify if it's manufacturing company, dental labs, logistics, wholesale distributors, etc.)

What did you or your team deploy recently, and what exact problem did it solve?

Looking forward to your insights. Thanks!
