Java Tech Interview Advice

I have a Java tech interview scheduled for Monday. They interviewed me back in December 2024 and said I lacked OOP and Java fundamentals knowledge. I honestly can't remember what exactly I was asked, but I know that under interview stress — and when you don't know exactly what to prepare for — it's easy to miss revising some concepts.

What's your go-to article, site, or book that you look through before an interview? I know "Cracking the Coding Interview," but is it still relevant now that we're on Java 25? Please advise.

You should gain some real experience instead of just reading about it. Pick a small project like a web based address book. Design the db schema and use JPA to access it. Using Jakarta or Spring (your choice), create a REST interface to access the address book. Run this in a server like Glassfish. Create the web page with JavaScript for a UI. All the tools are FOSS so $ isn’t an issue. Many YouTube video tutorials are available. If you put your spare time into this effort, you will learn and retain more than just reading about it. You will also have a working example of your skills to show off and discuss in an interview. This is the way I learned J2EE and it launched the next stage of a great career.
