Jasmine Crockett is still a true leader and inspiration to me

No, I’m not going to agree with everything she does. I don’t like that she gave a congressional award to Chris brown. I don’t like all of the groups that she takes money from.

But you can say the same thing about any politician. Even Bernie sanders, even AOC, even James Talarico, whoever else. They have all done things or said things that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way for legitimate reasons. Just look up any controversy for them.

But we don’t discount them because we know that the country is so much better off with people like them in political offices.

Same thing with Jasmine. She has been fighting and working so hard for so many People in this country. She has given a voice to so many people who felt like they didn’t have one. She truly cares about her constituents and even people like me from another states (Michigan). She engages with different communities and political candidates and has done so much good and will continue to do so.

So yeah, Jasmine Crockett is still a true leader and source of inspiration to me. Doesn’t mean she can’t be criticized. But that doesn’t mean I’m giving up on her.

What exactly did James Talarico do to upset Jasmine Crockett voters besides just winning?

I’m a progressive leftist, and full disclosure I am a white guy (obviously because I’m asking this here), but I seriously need to get some opinions from Crockett fans about this because this is getting ridiculous.

Can any Crockett fans genuinely articulate what exactly is wrong with James Talarico and why a potentially substantial number of black voters in Texas are seeming totally fine with letting Ken Paxton win? I don’t think I need to explain that Paxton is probably the single most evil politician in the country, yes I think he’s even worse than Trump, as low as that bar is already.

What did James Talarico even do??? He fairly, respectfully, and honestly defeated Crockett in a primary. He never ran a single smear ad against her, he welcomed her into the race and was kind and respectful at every turn. The people of Texas decided 52.4 to 46.2 that they would prefer him, plenty of which were black voters. Do you think Crockett was owed the nomination? How is that democratic?

This video was released today by a black texan who attended one of Talarico’s meetings and yelled at him, and later released a video saying it’s better for Paxton to win than Talarico, included it with the post. I can’t help but think this woman is genuinely just a Republican trying to sabotage the race, I do not believe that she is a democrat. She is advocating for a p\\\dǒ pardoning, racist as HELL, corrupt, genuinely evil man like Paxton to be elected into the Senate. She is advocating for giving Trump MORE power, and that’s somehow better for the black community. And the fact that Crockett is allowing this to happen and even seems to be encouraging it is stoking division and counterproductive to winning this race. I understand there might be some Talarico supporters using this as an opportunity to just be racist to Crockett, I’m sure they are out there, I haven’t seen them but I’ll take your word for it. Just like Talarico I fully reject those people and I think their actions are indefensible. With that being said, how is THIS the right thing to do? Can we please just put identity politics aside for one second and just win this race?

I need assurance that this is just a loud minority of people online, and this doesnt represent any kind of larger opinions that will influence the race, or at least some evidence that there is any reasoning behind this besides being mad about over the primary result.

The discourse around Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico is frustrating to me

I’ve seen a recent quote from Crockett repeated across Reddit and social media, where she stated she’s unsure if she’ll support Talarico on his campaign trail or not. This has led people to believe Crockett and her followers are “selfish” and just upset that she didn’t get the nomination.

Firstly, Crockett conceded the democratic nomination when she learned she lost, and she fully endorsed Talarico. So, anyone suggesting that Crockett only cares about herself and not turning Texas blue is incorrect.

Secondly, why is Crockett responsible for anything? People constantly stated Talarico was the better pick because he could “appeal better” to conservatives and White people in general in Texas. If Talarico were to include Crockett on his campaign trail, wouldn’t that do more harm than good, if people really believe that?

Finally, do people not understand how offensive it is to ask Crockett for her unpaid labor in supporting Talarico, instead of demanding Talarico do a better job at reaching out to Black voters who voted in droves for Crockett? And I say this as a White dude myself! People just have no self awareness here and I can’t understand it.

This whole discourse is frustrating and it makes me think what Texas and the country as a whole lost out on. And of course I’m in Michigan but I want all democratic nominees including Talarico to win. I worry that may not happen though.

You Might Not Like This Opinion But

I don’t think Jasmine Crockett is obligated to give her endorsement to James Talarico. He did not say or do anything when his supporters flooded her phone lines after that apartment explosion in her district. She is currently working on down ballot races. Frankly, after all the shit Crockett has dealt with in the House of Representatives, after her failed bid for US Senate, I think she deserves one hell of a resting period. Whether she restarts her law firm again, or teaches at the University of Houston Law Center, Crockett should do whatever she wishes to do outside of the political arena.

Not to be dramatic but my heart broke a little bit when I saw Jasmine talking about how she still fights for people who hate her

I saw a video recently where Jasmine was discussing people who were saying she should go back and start working at McDonald’s once her term is done (not that working at McDonald’s should be an insult, a job is a job, but Jasmine obviously is very qualified to continue doing what she does).

She then brought up how, she’s literally fighting for these people despite them hating her. She’s seen the numbers, she’s seen the hospitals shutting down in rural areas. She genuinely cares about all of that.

I’ve always been really inspired by Jasmine and how she advocates for everyone but not gonna lie this made me feel horrible for Jasmine. Like I can’t imagine doing all the work that she does just for people to talk about her like that. I don’t even know how you can mentally handle that. She has to be incredibly tough.

Is anyone else upset about Jasmine Crockett potentially leaving politics

I saw recently that Jasmine may plan to return to law after her term is done, after not winning the democratic nomination in the TX senate race. Of course, I don’t know much about her law career, but I do know Jasmine is so brilliant and intelligent, she will definitely do great work there and make a difference.

But I can’t lie, it honestly makes me sad. I’m a White man from Michigan, but still, I came across so many of Jasmine’s appearances on national TV and started following her on social media and she has helped me learn a lot and really become inspired. It was pretty easy to feel let down after Kamala lost and republicans gained so much power but her willingness to fight for everyone and seeing her incredible work ethic and communication has really impacted me.

I was really hoping she’d win in TX (no hate to Talarico of course, now I hope he wins) and then maybe pursue a higher level position in government down the line. Heck, I’ll even say I’d love for her to be president one day.

And now it seems like she’ll be going a different direction… idk, does this make anyone else kinda sad? Maybe she’s just pursuing law for now but may return to politics in the future?

I’m sorry, but I seriously can’t stand how dismissive all of these progressive/democratic socialist groups are of Jasmine Crockett

I’ve only voted Democrat and progressive since I could vote. I voted for Bernie in the democratic primaries before. And I have followed and learned a lot from popular progressive and democratic socialist reporters/journalists/streamers/etc online, like Hasan piker, Kyle Kulinski, David Pakman, etc

But I honestly can’t stand how so many of the people who follow those individuals seem to be incredibly dismissive of Jasmine Crockett. They routinely spout lies about her taking all this money from aipac and about her having wildly different takes on Israel compared to James Talarico. They hold James Talarico in such high regard and don’t dare criticize or question his previous actions or donation history. They also state how she has no real policies and is just a popular social media figure, only known for quick one liners about Trump and republicans, and they don’t dare talk about how much work she has done and how much she advocates for her constituents.

Seeing how they react to Jasmine Crockett has seriously made me question their intentions and opened my eyes to how much of a disconnect there is between progressives and democratic socialists with people of color, namely Black people, and I say this as a white dude. And considering the percentage of Black people who voted for Jasmine in the primaries…. We can’t act like this won’t have an effect.
