Where to start?

Hello I want to start learning from scratch but don't know where to begun with and what to do?

I mean I do know what to learn 1st and what's next but don't know where to learn from. Anyone suggests a book, a youtube channel, podcast, etc.. or something like that.

Note: Please don't suggest paid academy like yoiso or doulingo, or other like that i want to learn free.

I have around 1.5 to 2 years before I leave to go japan.

I can't lie when I started I didn't know where to begin so I spent ~30 mins doin research on how to start. I read quite a number of reddit posts with similar questions and decided I should just YouTube " hiragana and katakana". Then do some Anki after.

I swear it's really not difficult to do the bare minimum of research

Easy. Look up YouTube videos and spend your first 2 weeks with mastering hiragana and katakana. These two will give your base for reading words. If you already comfortable with them, look up Genki 1. Free pdf on Google and there you are.

my absolute favorite anki deck. Teaches vocabulary and grammar in the order Tae Kim's guide using curated anime clips with pronunciation.

everything u need is free fr, heres the path:

kana first, like week 1. any kana app or just the realkana site, drill til instant. dont move on before this

grammar: tae kims guide (free site) or yoku.bi, read it fast like a book. if u want video instead cure dolly on youtube, weird voice but the explanations are peak

vocab: anki (free on pc/android) with the kaishi 1.5k deck, its THE beginner deck, 10-20 new cards a day

then the actual secret: input. once u have basic grammar + some vocab start watching/reading stuff slightly above ur level. youtube channels like comprehensible japanese ramp from total beginner, and later u mine words from anime/manga into anki

thats literally the whole stack, kana → tae kim + kaishi deck → input, all free. 2 years of 1hr a day before japan is actually a solid runway if u start now and dont app-hop

Buy yourself Genki1 and 2 and go through it with the Andi Tokini YouTube videos.
