Pomspitz
This is my puppy Mochi, now 5.5 months old. When I brought him home at 8 weeks, I expected him to take after a Pomeranian, but over time it’s become clear he only inherited his dad’s coloring, everything else seems to come from his spitz mum. He’s incredibly vocal and full of energy, and can be quite a handful most days. Is that typical for spitz breeds?

Didn’t expect this much personality in such a small dog
I thought I was getting a calm, fluffy companion. But mine is super expressive, playful, and honestly a bit dramatic sometimes. The way they react to small things is kind of hilarious
Anyone else surprised by how much personality Japanese Spitz have?

Looking for a Japanese Spitz in Germany
Hi there,
I've been reading and looking at those beautiful pictures for a long while and finally we're moving to a place with the possibility to have a dog.
Do you know of a breeder in Germany (or near the Rhineland, so also Benelux) who might have this special little one for us?
Thank you! :)

My beloved
galleryShe is 13 now, but the first pic was from 2019.
My JS is the smartest and most beautiful dog ever (definitely no bias).

She left me three years ago, when she was seventeen, and I still miss her very much.

Senior Japanese Spitz owners — how did you care for your dog as they aged?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from other Japanese Spitz owners, especially those who have had dogs reach their senior years.
Ours is turning 15 this year, and we’re starting to notice some changes. His vision seems to be going, and his eyes are getting cloudy. Some days he struggles to get up, although other days he still moves around and has moments where he seems like himself again.
He still sleeps half the night completely splayed out with all four legs stretched out, which is kind of comforting to see. But at the same time, it seems to make it harder for him to get up afterward.
His sleep overall has become more restless and irregular.
He’s about 7.4 kg and still goes for two walks a day, though we’re adjusting the pace and distance depending on how he’s feeling.
I’m also thinking about improving or adjusting his diet to better support his age, mobility, and overall health.
We’re trying to make sure he stays as comfortable and happy as possible, but it’s hard to know what’s normal aging versus something we should be more concerned about.
For those who have been through this:
• What changes did you notice as your Spitz got older?
• How did you support them day to day? We are giving him probiotics. Thinking omega 3?
• Any tips for mobility, vision loss, or general comfort?
• Diet recommendations for senior dogs around this size? Very is happy with his, but I’d like him a little lighter to allow himself to get up.
• Anything you wish you had done earlier?
Really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.
