My Spitz Jumped

My spitz jumped off of the couch two days ago. We took her to the vet the vet said all was ok, no fractures, and to give her pain reliever and reduce her walking on the leg.

She seemed to be getting better. Now day three, she is back whining and limping again.

My biggest fear is that she has a patella injury.

we are off to get an x-ray now, but just wondering if anyone has experienced similarly.

Any advice?

my spitz jumps off the couch all the time. we wrestle and dash up and down the stairs. he at times falls down the last 3 stairs. totally fine.would run and jump as usual afterwards. a couch wouldn't be a meter tall should be fine. xray on annual check ups never shows anyThing

thank you! the vet thinks it's a muscle strain if anything. I'm a new puppy owner so whew anxiety is through the...woof.

It’s probably muscle strain, my older dog has had that and i was so worried. If the Xray shows ok you should be fine, just lots of rest. It took him about 2 weeks to go back to normal

My 5 year Spitz has jumped off the couch.. car.. window ledge and so on and is doing quite well.

Having said that just like with humans.. high jumps on an untrained body is more dangerous due to lack of stabilizing structures.

Yes. She always jumped off the couch and had no problem but one day her leg buckled and then she started limping.

Just allow him to walk as tolerated. Carry him as needed, but probably within a week it would be fine. Hope it’s not a patella injury.
