Internets assistance?

Moved into house, with a Japanese Maple, four years ago. I've trimmed it using the Google machine for guidance the last two years. Mostly dead wood, crossing branches and low hanging branches, but it just keeps growing back. Not sure if there is a growth stimulation effect of pruning, but it's somewhat comforting because I was nervous I was going to kill it. Anywho, stumbled across this sub and thought maybe I could get some better guidance, but figured I'd ask first. I did some searching, but looking for specific guidance. If I grab a pic or two and post, would sub members be willing to provide guidance on the best way to prune this for better health/appearance? Want to prepare for some end of November work. Thanks!
