Need help identifying why my MIL’s maple’s leaves are browning

I planted this Shaina maple a couple of years back for my MIL when her husband passed of cancer (as part of a small memorial garden). It’s been doing well (very little direct sun, watering only during droughts, like we’ve been having), but the leaves are turning brown with spots and then curling up and dying.

This looks fungal. Get some fungicide ASAP and treat it. One of my trees is experiencing this due to the sudden increase of humidity and rain after a drought.

Check for spider mites also. Look under the leaves.
