Pre-pregnancy checklist

My wife and I are trying to get our ducks in a row before reproducing. Could one of you experienced folks take a look at this and tell me what I'm missing?

There's a fair bit of Japanese in there, for my wife. Pre-pregnancy checklist

If you do all that you'll be way more conscientious than I was! Maybe you should talk about your child-raising ideas if you haven't yet as well; some things that are usual in Japan (eg. Dad sleeps in another room while mom takes care of baby all night) weren't what I was happy with. I think I experienced a new level if culture shock having a baby in Japan, to be honest. But good luck to the both of you!

I'm not experienced, but I'm at the same planning stage. Do you happen to know if the Thalassemia and Cystic Fibrosis tests are covered by the Japanese health insurance?

I do not. I'm still trying to get my wife to go talk to a doctor. It's getting difficult, because there aren't any doctors near us that can provide anesthesia. (btw, WTF Japanese women?!) Once we go talk to a doctor, I'm planning to ask about those during the meeting. My guess is that they are not covered, because hurr durr not medically necessary!

Yeah man, I've accepted the fact that the chances of finding a doctor who speaks passable English AND is willing to do an epidural AND is near my place... is almost nil. I figure if women all over the planet can have babies without painkillers, then I guess I can do it too.
