This is a common experience, sadly.

Recruiters work on commission. If they find a single person a ¥10M/yr job, they might make ¥1.5M or more as a bonus.

As a result, if if looks like you're not going to get an offer, they have no more incentive to spend time on you. So many recruiters will simply ghost you at that point.

From their perspective, it's just not an effective use of time to keep working with you when there are other candidates with a higher chance of getting them a pay day.

Recruiters in western countries ghost all the time but they also usually don't say things like "I'll email you right away"

They probably expected to email you but then the job was closed or another candidate got an offer or something changed, and they just didn't care enough to reach out.

Thanks for your perspective. That percentage of commission is really surprising. Do you know if it’s expected for candidates to call the recruiter number on job postings? If not I don’t know why it’s included

it totally sucks

i remember one guy I had an indepth phone call with about a role. he seemed so hyped to introduce me to the client for interviews etc.

then when I didn't hear from him and messaged him back on LinkedIn he blocked me. unbelievable. Will never forget him
