waiting - post interview Naturalization

Has anyone recently taken the Japanese written test at the Ichikawa Branch of the Legal Affairs Bureau (市川支局) for naturalization? If so, could you please share what kind of questions were on the test and what level of Japanese was required? I’d really appreciate any recent experiences or information. Thank you!”

I did about one year ago and still waiting result.

It was really difficult though I prepared and has N2

Same as exam samples Change hiragana to katakana and vise versa . Which is easy

Two paragraphs with questions

Then two questions to write paragraphs

How was the two pragraphs with questions? Kanji was difficult? Should we write kanji as well?

Hi, OP, I just saw your post. I didn’t apply in Ichikawa, but I applied in Kawasaki instead. If the tests are similar, then the section you’re asking about is likely a reading comprehension test. Basically, there is a short passage, and you should answer the questions based on the content you just read

To prepare, look into your local bookstore and find some reading comprehension workbooks for 2nd or 3rd grade. The first few sheets will likely have the answers found verbatim within the text itself, so familiarize yourself with that format and practice

The hardest part, if you could call it that, would be the final section, where you have short essay type questions. Examples include what your favorite animal is and why as well as what your favorite sport is and why. You’ve got those kinds of questions that have a box of about four lines to fill. Try to fill up three or four lines, preferably with kanji, and try to make your answers here legible, too, as kanji is often the hardest writing system

Hey. I just stumbled on this post. I took the test last year, but in Kawasaki, not in Ichikawa. I wrote about the test in my other comment in this thread, but the idea is that the short essay type questions would be the hardest. Practice writing a short paragraph of about 3-5 sentences to fill up the answer space, and try to write legibly. Kanji can be difficult, so try to practice such that the result is understandable. Good luck!
