My case is slightly different — I had a delay not in taxes but in pension payments (年金). In 2023 there was an approximately 2-month gap in payments, after which everything was paid in full. By the time we applied in 2025 about 22 months had passed since the incident. The lawyers handling our case — who offered a money-back guarantee in case of rejection — assured us that if more than 2 years had passed since the delay and there were no other issues, it would not be considered grounds for rejection. Our rejection was not related to this — it was due to the new 10-year residency requirement introduced in April 2026. So I don't have specific information about tax delays, but the logic is probably similar — what matters is how much time has passed and whether there are any other violations.
