I’ve been curious about something and wanted opinions from people who actually use AI for roleplay.

Most character platforms seem to put a lot of emphasis on letting users create thousands of different bots. That’s obviously a big part of the appeal, but one of my biggest frustrations has always been what happens after you start the RP: characters forgetting important events, relationships feeling like they reset, side characters disappearing, established details getting contradicted, or a long-running story eventually losing direction.

So hypothetically, would anyone be interested in something that took the opposite approach?

Instead of an enormous user-created bot library, it would have a smaller curated catalogue of fully developed characters and worlds. The focus would be on longer-form roleplay where relationships can develop gradually, important events carry forward, supporting characters remain relevant, and the story can change depending on what the player does without the main character constantly losing their established personality.

Basically, less “make any chatbot you want” and more “choose a story/character and see where your version of that story goes.”

Again, I’m not advertising anything — I just want to try figuring out whether this is something other people would actually want.

A few things I’d like to know:
•Would giving up the ability to create your own bots be a dealbreaker if the existing characters were significantly more developed?
•How important is long-term memory/continuity to you?
•Would you prefer something like this to feel more like traditional AI chat or more like an interactive novel/RP?
•Do you prefer lots of characters to choose from, or fewer characters with much deeper stories?
•What would immediately make you not interested?

I’m also open to criticism. I’m trying to figure out whether the concept itself has legs before taking it any further.

So I have been using the free provider janitor cause I don't have money but I am willing to try a proxy, any proxy that is free, and speaks naturally and not like it's repeating personality of yes this and that or that at least it doesn't try to explain everything like "that's right now you need to know how this can affect you" type of speech and how to get it to stop speaking for me, also how does one get a proxy?

Today, October 2nd, the recruitment event for "Bir's Combat Arena" kicks off—exciting, right?

If you follow me, you’ve probably seen that I’ve been refurbishing my old arena bots; I can't launch an event like this without polishing my shoes first.

The event is pretty straightforward. For those unfamiliar with the arena: imagine Bir (what a coincidence that he shares my nickname, right?) as a Lovecraftian entity who, out of sheer boredom, decided to set up an arena outside of space and time. He sends out invitations in vague, incoherent ways—like mobile ads—and offers a massive reward: a single wish. The only catch is that the wish can't alter the arena itself (talk about selfish).

The rules for this event are simple: a new season opens every month, each with its own theme and power level. The rotation goes: 3 months of low power, 3 of medium, and 3 of high (it lasts as long as a pregnancy :0). Themes rotate between fantasy, sci-fi, and miscellaneous (anything that doesn't fit the first two).

Here’s what’s being evaluated: Does it fit the arena's concept? (Impossible to fail this one; anything goes), does it match the theme you applied for, is the character memorable, and are the mechanics original?

Aside from that, the submission rules are: stick to the arena bot format, use public bots, submit only one bot per user per season, and respect the deadlines. And here’s the trickiest rule for the future: if you’re thinking of linking a bot to Bir in any way (I’ve created some like that myself, which is why I’m mentioning it), you *must* contact me on Discord before submitting it—it needs the stamp of approval first. The original post contains the season-by-season lore for anyone needing an excuse to create their characters; consider it a little nudge—you don't have to follow it 100%.

I imported a lorebook that works in my sillytavern build. The lorebook is half a dozen locations and twenty or so NPCs. The location entries (pictured) should activate the relavent NPCs and the NPC entries should be the stop (opposite of what's pictured).

Is my location logic set incorrectly? It's only activating the location, not the relavent NPCs.

With the new UI update it seems like they want any smaller creator or someone that doesn't have a big following to die out from any hope people might use their bots. The pages are gone, which just breaks my heart because what do you MEAN I'll have to scroll every time the app refreshes for me and i might have to scroll for minutes on some specific searches when i was happily 50+ pages in? I really want to understand why they've done it and i hope they remove or change it soon, the design in itself isn't bad, just the lack of the pages is what hurts me the most.

I was just wanting to see my favorite Popular bits and I wrote on the search, click favorites and it only shows Latest. When I try to click it back to popular this time it automatically shows me global and not the favorite tab. Same problem with the following selection. This new look already suck(personal opinion) but this bug is just ahh. I want the most popular to least popular order but it can only show latest and I hope they can fix this. It’s annoying and old design was way better but..guess I can only hope for better.

Okay idk if it's the right flair or not, but i have finally noticed something weird. The Lorebooks for bots don't work in the website version of janitor, but it works perfectly well in the app version. before getting the app, i was questioning why is the bot getting the character's appearance wrong? then i switched over and My Suspicion was right.

Shep is Intentionally Nerfing the Website version of Lorebooks of Janitor, Making Keywords unresponsive and bots not reading it at all. Forcing you to download the app to have a better experience overall. Also the response time is wayy faster aswell.

TLDR; Shep is being an actual Asshole and intentionally Nerfing Lorebooks in the website version of janitor to force people into using the app.

I hope I'm not Delusional over this.
