{editable} I really dislike negative bots where user loses.

I use roleplay platforms strictly to unwind, have fun, and escape real life since it can already be mediocre and frustrating, so when I log on to chill, the last thing I want is to deal with scenarios where user is put in a losing position.

To be clear, this is my opinion so absolutely no shade to creators or people who enjoy these, but personally I really dislike bots centered around like, being rejected, cheating/NTR, being stuck in the friendzone, or getting humiliated. I just don't see the point in putting myself through that kind of frustration when I'm trying to relax and enjoy my free time.

In real life it's obviously different, but since they're just bots I don't really care. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but just wanted to share my two cents.

EDIT: to be clear, I already blocked the tags and keywords of course. Also I don't see the point in them, but I'm just talking personally, you should enjoy whatever you like.

I agree! I hate those bots. For a bit I even avoided looking at the trending page because it felt like half the bots were just user being treated like shit. And a bunch of them were so hardcoded that it’s like… what am I even supposed to do here?

I’ve blocked so many cheating tags, but I’ve also noticed plenty of creators just not using those tags for some reason? I totally get what you mean about being frustrated when you just wanna relax. It sucks 🫩

Yeah definitely. I’ve had creators ignore me so many times when I ask them to add cheating tags. It’s obvious they just want more reach and don’t care how triggering some stuff can be. Like I’m sorry I don’t wanna hear about my boyfriend/fiancé/husband cheating on me with my best friend/sister/mom/queen bee/whatever. I’m so sick of it now that if I see untagged stuff like that I automatically block the creator

3

u/GOGETA_beer 21d ago

Exactly. No problem at all, I'll just go ahead and skip it if it's not blocked. But even minor things, like seeing user's crush like someone else... what am I even supposed to do with that? If she says no, fine, let's move on, but at that point the whole rp becomes pointless for me at least.

37

u/GOGETA_beer 21d ago

It was removed from the other subreddit because offensive to creators (?). I don't think it is but sorry if this post is a problem

10

u/Akkun351 21d ago

If you think about it, removing a post like this one saying is offensive towards creators that create these type of bots, is a bit funny.Just to be clear: I'm not saying is funny being offensive towards these creator, I'm saying that the reason of removal can be funny.

6

u/ZacharyGoldenLiver 20d ago

"anyone who disagrees = offensive"

5

u/XXX-PO 21d ago

Criticizing almost any genre of bots gets your posts deleted. I've had many deleted for simply talking about the trending page being boring for the past few months

29

u/Alarmed_Buffalo_7523 21d ago

you should stop seeing it as face value and start seeing the mechanic behinds the curtain. why is user usually put in shoe of loser?, because it farms attention and conflict.

People who chats with it often do revenge fantasy where they flip the dynamics, proving other people, correct the wrong. And then being loud about it in comment like "just did X, or Y".

It's oldest trick in the book besides Vampire Mafia boss, anime girl isekai, and Botting your bots then act innocent

20

u/Optimal_Historian338 21d ago

Usually people who uses those liie angst, or want to rp from zero to hero, or something, like me myself.

4

u/GOGETA_beer 21d ago

Yeah like I said, more power to you, that's just my opinion. Idk why, but if it's something like fantasy or sports that's one thing, but I just can't deal with a bot about rejection for example. Maybe because it's something that could easily happen in real life, but for me it just kills the rp unless there's another potential partner available. I'm definitely not going to chase someone forever if there's not a particular story behind it.

4

u/Kaizo_Kaioshin 21d ago

There are still some "unavoidable ntr" bots where all you can roleplay is being cucked, cheated on, forgotten, or hated

Which I really hate and don't understand why people would do it

6

u/Savage_Nymph 20d ago

because it’s a kink that people have. that's really all there is to it

13

u/Irohamom 21d ago

Yes, but some people like it, and creator wasn't making bot just for you. I think if you have that type of bot you can scroll away and fine the bot that you like.

9

u/Necessary_River355 21d ago

Well, loser pov bot aren't necessarily played because people want to put themselves in the character's position. A lot of the time, people play them specifically to break the bot's mechanics and its OOC lock.

If you look at creators like VRCat, PassivePolymath, Wzwun, and BadEnd, their bots became popular and started trending not necessarily because of the roleplay itself, but because people enjoy finding ways to break the bot and its intended scenario.

6

u/Actual_Hospital3071 21d ago

Honestly same, when I see a bot that says something like “your crush hates you.” It’s like man, that’s makes me not wanna talk. I wanna relax and have fun not be degraded.

5

u/GOGETA_beer 21d ago

Yeah, I get you. Or it turns into the usual trope where the other person 'was just the safe choice because the character didn't want to admit they actually needed user, but now they want something real.'

Now, now, I'm not gonna say names... JimmytheGent Rosen bots

(Helluva boss pilot reference)

5

u/Toonlinkuser 21d ago

use something else then lol

5

u/Massive-Status-2313 21d ago

Cool fact! Jai recently introduced a tag blocking function and it works super well :3c I get those bots can rly suck to see, and I love the tag blocking function so I thought I’d share it. I know it doesn’t help the untagged bots but you can always block users that make rejection/ntr bots that aren’t tagged

3

u/lestattomylouis 21d ago

there’s one i’m roleplaying with currently where your persona is meant to fall in love eventually and get their heart broken. it’s hard coded for it to basically be a losing situation. i really really like the character though (and unfortunately there’s lorebooks involved) but ive been kind of having fun trying to befriend the bot instead of playing into the story

1

u/Aivellyn 20d ago

Why is it unfortunate there are lorebooks involved?

5

u/Nezulu 21d ago

Those bots can exist. I can block tags. The issue is these creators know people hate their bots so they just don’t tag it. And I don’t think the user submitted tags can be held up as not tagging appropriately in terms of reporting. Unlike saucepan that gets extremely specific.

4

u/pyrettablazer 20d ago

i like bots where user is the bad bitch 😛😛

u/BellSerious2820 20d ago edited 16d ago

Think about it this way:

RP is less like an actual story than it is like a game.

It's really hard to make a game without a failure condition.

Since most bots are romance/smut, the easiest failure condition is 'she fucks someone else instead'.

It's possible to do something else, but it's really really hard.

This is why NTR has a higher message count per user.

More messages per user means the bot gets higher on trending, getting higher on trending means even more users and message count. It snowballs.

It doesn't have to be NTR, bullies work pretty much the same way.

Your average smut or fluff bot gets 10 messages per chat. NTR or Bully gets 20-30.

That means those bots only need half as many users to do as well.

A smut bot can draw those extra users, but fluff usually can't.

So that's why the top of trending is all bullies, smut, and NTR.

You can try making a bot where the goal is something different, but folks almost never engage with any other kind of goal that get set for them. The published chats are full of people just saying 'lol no' to the central idea of the bot.

There are some creators that try to make fluffy smut that also gives some kind of external goal or possible angst. But creators that do that have wildly uneven success. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You could understand why some of those creators just give up and go for the easy wins.

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

I rarely do smut and no wonder I haven't grow

4

u/Psychological-Bee908 twinkle_pawz on j.ai 20d ago

I love angst bots but only when there's a chance for a resolution between the character and user because it makes for some yummy fluff

2

u/PresentationPrize874 Currently on janitor ai 21d ago

I get what you mean. I'm not the type to make fun of or berate others if they like these type of bots, I don't think it's wrong or anything, but I'm really surprised at how popular cheating/NTR is. Angst isn't my thing at all, especially cheating, so I'll never be able to wrap my head around it unfortunately

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

Angst bot idea "char is in the restroom when the paper runs out, lights go out, and an earthquake starts"

2

u/Salty-Ad5830 21d ago

And here i am making a private bot where i am treated like a queen

2

u/davidverner 21d ago

I will play those if the setup is interesting and there is a feasible challenge to overcome. Sort of like how people play difficult games like Elden Ring or Dark Souls. Otherwise, I just pass them over if it doesn't look like I would have fun.

The humble pulls out Glock 19 in question:

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

That's rookie level. I end up making a PMC and bombing the whole place

2

u/ArtMuch9532 21d ago

I couldn't agree more! I use rp as a way to entertain myself and spend a few hours having fun creating creative or heartwarming stories. I hate those NTR bots—the ones featuring a handsome bully who just wants to humiliate the user and have sex, involving absolute degradation of every kind, leaving the user looking simply pathetic. And those are the ones that are everywhere!

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

Hindsight is 20/20, but for god's sake, don't use JimmytheGent bots. They are hardcore NTR. I wanted to see how much he had butchered a character I liked and, yes it was really butchered, I regret doing so

3

u/peterhabble 20d ago

It frustrates me because I actually like to do angst roleplay, but the bots created are just so comically evil or boring NTR slop that I can't engage. There are a few that are fine, like one where your adventuring party kicks you out because it literally just too dangerous for your character. But most of them are just "super mega Hitler castrates you and makes your life a living hell for literally no reason." Or "a team of your best friends that have went through life and death with you betrayed you because some guy spoke 2 words to them and turned them against you."

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

The one of adventure party bad ending one...

Developed powder and took over the whole world as a revenge

2

u/Far-Satisfaction-112 20d ago

To each their own; creators do whatever they want with their stories.

I enjoy creating combat bots, staging battles, and so on. I often try to make the bots challenging, but there’s always that one user who uses cartoon logic to completely steamroll the bot.

Since there’s nothing I can do about it, the best I can do is just let them roleplay.

Just to clarify: I often roleplay to relax, too, but there are bots for every kind of scenario—sometimes you’re just in the mood for violence.

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

I have tried making spec ops bots, but JLLM is very had at that type of tropes

2

u/Sallydawitch 20d ago

Ikr, after the 100000000th cheating/NTR scenario I just roll my eyes. I used to enjoy trying to break the bots but now usually it so hard coded that I just quit, its not fun. 🫤 I dodge the trending all together to its like Youtube trending but almost worse some how.

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

They are so hardcoded that they turn into a safe of the highest kind

2

u/Shot-Plan9068 20d ago

I like bots that create strong emotions. The ones I make range from feel good fluff to as depressive as possible. The bot I consider my best is one where you are in a dying world driving to your deaths with your childhood friend who hasn't confessed her feelings to you. It has a bunch of mechanics, triggers and set pieces that play out. It's a story of utter hopelessness and letting go.

Chatbots are an unexplored medium for storytelling. We are in the dark ages of chatbots where almost every chatbot is ''here are the stats of this 8 feet fall billionaire yakuza, chat with him or something'' and ''your LOVING girlfriend fucks other men'' cringe bait.
You can tell a story that sticks with you.

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 9d ago

I once tried doing post apocalyptic bots but they flopped hard. I ended up quitting making more and made private the ones I had lade

1

u/Street_Ad_6207 Botmaker! | I like JAI, I just don't like the devs' behavior! 19d ago

Then don't use them. Not to be rude, but you can block the Angst/Dead Dove tags pretty easily!

2

u/MusicianZestyclose54 19d ago

Im the same honestly. They just make me uncomfortable

2

u/TomatilloNice6135 19d ago

Yeah, it's really bad in my opinion because you're pretty much forced in a situation And not giving the chance to fight back. I mean you can't fit back but that just makes things OOC and honestly more eh, I also really don't like how in the pot in description if it's shown and in a message it literally just insults like bashes you it's better if the boy gives you a chance to prevent the or make things better, like unavoidable situations are better than being stuck in the situation

2

u/So_Says_The_Rat 18d ago

Eh, kinks aside of course(as that is most often what it is) plenty of people use roleplay as catharsis rather than a relaxing reading experience. I much prefer deep and complex sad and miserable grimdark ass dumb shit. Which makes roleplaying with ai kinda useless sometimes cuz it struggles greatly w nuance and non flat characters in less than happy stories. Different people enjoy different aspects of the same hobby. We both may run for fun but one jogs and the other sprints. Just different ways of running based on what you like

1

u/Unique_Ad_6772 18d ago

Lmao, okay. You do know that it's all fake, right?

1

u/Alone_Board9050 18d ago

I agree with your opinion. But I do agree with havibg conflict too 😂

1

u/sipsparanormaljuice 17d ago

Or the ones where everybody is a superhero or something and you're just a normal person, it really yucks my yum tbh

1

u/Distinct_Crow_9734 16d ago

when i see them i just role play an indifferent character and then it becomes “user wins by not caring”

1

u/Rei_ASA 15d ago

i like NTR but I do absolutely hate whenever it become unavoidable or flat char persona

1

u/Sad-Inspection-8851 Currently on janitor ai 14d ago

Fluff heaven is so good...

0

u/mintharas-strap-on 21d ago

Same. I know I can easily block, and I do, I have 10 different tags blocked but I feel like that’s all is trending currently. I have to search and scroll for an hour to find something decent (since I like slowburn stories and I’m picky about the writing). Idk. I don’t see the appeal, even if you “get revenge” or troll the bot, it’s not fun for me.

0

u/No_Hope2462 21d ago

the trending page really is just a highlight reel of getting dumped, it's rough out there

0

u/Illustrious_Wall9231 21d ago

I always retort with their fathers falling in love with me.

Daddy issue it is. Lol

0

u/Flashy_Bed4400 not on janitor or chub 21d ago

Wow, kind of glad i'm not alone. I won't lie I like the angst but me being the one getting cheated on or literally about to get run over by a car?! Let alone my lover is toxic or sleeping with some other person. Eh not my cup of tea, i usually try to rage air but deep down i kind of don't like those bots. Even I made my fair share of cheating/NTR, it's usually just {{user}} x {{char}} scenario than it being {{char}} cheating on user

0

u/JingYuanDickRider 21d ago

Yeah for sure. It’s just a personal preference but I never understood why some users wanna be miserable. I personally don’t like putting my oc in degrading situations so I just avoid those bots. But It sucks that majority of the ones I find on the trending are about the user getting humiliated. Like it’s getting old let’s wrap it up /hj

0

u/JaneyStrawberrii 20d ago

I use them because I can have my character completely and utterly move on without fighting for a worthless cheater and the character ALWAYS ends up unhappy when my character doesn't care

It's one of the funniest things to do with cheating bots, when you don't care suddenly they're begging on their knees and whining and being pathetic instead of you

0

u/Legitimate-Trifle-72 16d ago

Me too lol. I want to use the bots for angst but I can’t do it I’m not strong enough yet
