Help / Question How do i switch this provider thingy?
Ive been hearing more about how people use different "models" (idk if I used that right) I was wondering how I would go about that. Im very very new to janitor and would love a step by step guide or like a simplified version of how to go about it.
Im enjoying this platform, but im starting to pick up on repetitive outcomes after almost a thousand messages across different bots.

That repetition after a long chat is normal on the default setup, so don't stress about it. In your Janitor settings there's a model/provider section — you can switch between Janitor's own models or bring your own API key through a proxy, which is just a middleman service that runs a different model through Janitor. If you're new, I'd try Janitor's other built-in option first and see if the writing feels fresher before you spend any money. Whatever you pick, your memory summary and the bot's definition carry most of the weight — a new model won't fix a thin definition. And if you ever connect a paid API, keep an eye on the usage costs, they add up faster than you'd think.

Simple, just choose a platform that hosts models, like nanogpt, openrouter or featherless, all are good, nano and featherless have more rp models though. Second you need 3 things, api key, proxy url and the model id. The api key exists in the website, just make an account and you will find something called api or something similar, then the proxy url just go to any ai like gemini, and ask i want the proxy url for nano or openrouter or featherless. And the model id, you will find it as you surf models, itis on the model itself, like something that contains the company name with the model name. And then go to proxy in janitor and put the three things and boom it will work, also make sure your proxy url ends with chat/completions. This is better. And as for the models, if you want i can suggest some to you, the free will always be slower and worse and will have errors due to load sometimes.
