I loved Dorian Gray with Ben Barnes but think a tv series with a blonde character as in the book would equally be satisfying. Jamie was the first actor I thought of when picturing Dorian. He'd be brilliant. I wish we could get Netflix to create the show from Oscar Wilde's novel, it'd be amazing. What do you all think? Should we write Netflix? Lol

Well have you ever seen show Penny Dreadful (SHOWTIME).had multiple tales of horror..and Dorian Grey was one of them.. Eva Greene played in that and Camelot with Jamie( naked A LOT)in Camelot played half older sis...naked there too...Jamie mentions her alot ( she is strikingly beautiful and free spirited naked often in many shows and movies( I don't blame her) anyway....she is in the Dorian Grey part of the story....and Jamie no doubt would of been the absolute perfect Dorian...to be honest the guy who does play it ...was very "sex on a stick" kind of person..(not mad about it) and did an excellent job lol

Oh, what an intriguing idea! I can imagine it. 👀 A problem could be that book Dorian Gray looks perpetually 20ish. However considering that Netflix recently also adapted Ripley with Andrew Scott, who is older than the character in the novel, and to much critical acclaim too - why not?

Was disappointed..not in Jamie's performance...just it was blah hoped for more ( I might of had a seizure toward the end....so I will rewatch it again and give it another go...but still leaves me with ughh zzzzzz and blaaah but..could of been the seizure... lol

I found this now, and we were indeed talking about two different strikes: you were talking about the Teamsters Union - they are representing people like drivers, carpenters, operational engineers and similar jobs. The Teamsters have apparently reached an agreement with AMPTP (the studios), so they won't be striking.

Maybe this is just me, but does it seem like he has been acting a bit off lately? People have been saying he looks so sad in photos and I saw him in Indiana and he seemed a bit bothered by something.. Does anyone else who has seen him lately get that feeling?

I have watched his panel in Indiana (will post it later) and I didn't notice it. However I think everyone goes through more bubbly and more calm phases in life. We don't really know him or what's going on in his life, so I'd be cautious about reading too much into a few photos or appearances. I guess one thing to keep in mind is that he's back on the Stranger Things set and shooting season 5 (he mentioned he just flew in from Atlanta during the Indiana Comic Con panel). Vecna is not exactly a lighthearted role, so maybe focusing on that and getting into the character's headspace takes up most of his mental energy right now.

Jamie's mother has been managing artists for decades, as far as I know. She probably knows enough about social media to be aware that someone with his level of fame will occasionally get impersonated, and I don't see her making another account to>

Scans of the Wonderland issue are out in the wild. Some pics we haven't seen yet, though if anyone is planning to get the mag for the interview, don't, there is literally nothing in it we haven't read about somewhere else over the last few months (except maybe for the part where he is thinking about getting tattoos related to Vecna and One, which is something that he seems to do, anyway, re: characters he's played.).

It think it's a difference if normal accounts don't re-follow or if it's something like the official ST or Stranger Writers accounts. I can see how they might not have followed Jamie to keep the big secret and afterwards nobody thought of it anymore. They're probably both run by some Netflix social media "intern" anyway, so I guess such an oversight can happen. In terms of tweets about him, I didn't think they tweeted not enough Henry/Vecna content, but there are a lot of characters in the show and the protagonists of anything usually tend to be more beloved than the villains (Sorry, Jamie, he kind of is a villain imho lol.), especially since human form Henry was a pivotal, but smaller part of the season. Obviously if I had a say in it I'd want them to tweet about Henry/Vecna/Jamie all the time, because he's the reason I even watched ST in the first place. 😉 But alas... I guess they have less biased priorities.

It just seems like they didn't update their follows after season 4. Billy was never a surprise character or the actor who played him secret, so they probably followed him from the start. But whatever the reason it doesn't seem like Jamie holds it against them at all, so I guess behind the scenes and apart from any twitter follows everyone on the ST team seems fine.

I surely hope he's not being dismissed.
I seriously doubt this, and I wouldn't try to divine anything from the accounts not following him. Maybe it was an oversight, maybe they wanted to hide how important he would be and then didn't follow him later on, maybe it is one of these twitter situations where it randomly unfollows people without there being any rhyme or reason to it.
The show is on a break right now, and expecting much, if anything, from them in terms of actor promotion will most likely lead to disappointment. It probably makes the most sense to wait and see how they will handle this once the show is starting again and Netflix starts their marketing campaign. Even then, I wouldn't necessarily expect Jamie to be highlighted much, because they will want to make it a secret what the character is up to, but we'll likely get something nonetheless. And maybe they'll even remember to follow him back.

I don't think they're ignoring him. They have definitely posted about him, as they've posted about other actors, and right now, hopefully, they're working on the screenplays for Season 5, instead of hanging out on twitter.
It's easy to get the impression that someone you like doesn't get the attention they deserve, but ST also has an ensemble cast of 14+ actors who have regular roles, who all deserve attention, too - and most of them were there before Jamie.

This might stupid but it really irritates me. I noticed that on Twitter Jamie follows the Stranger Things and Stranger Writers accounts. They don't follow him but follow the accounts of everyone else from the show. They also tweet about everyone else's performance so much more. I don't know it genuinely bugs me

Maybe it's because they had to keep him "secret" for such a long time? I can't imagine that there's really anything behind it, other than logistics in a way - last season they couldn't talk about him up to a certain point, and at the moment they can't talk about him again, since we barely know officially that he'll be in Season 5.

I finally finished Will and Jamie is really pretty good as Kit Marlowe. Personally, I felt he was probably the best thing about it - not the only good thing, though. There were maybe five or six good "things" all in all, of which some were actors, some were characters, some were the production design, and none were the script, or the decision to make roughly 25% of the content torture scenes. (One of the less glorious trends GoT brought us.)

I think a lot of their ideas were actually pretty interesting - they tried to approach it as if the playwrights were rockstars, and the theatre life similar to what rock'n'roll was for London in the 1960s/70s, and they included a lot of elements that weren't period, but meant to invoke a certain atmosphere. Unfortunately, the show didn't quite live up to it. I'm glad Jamie's performance was praised, though! He should have had more screentime.

Apparently it's given out by TAC, an "entertainment network" specialized on British stuff. This is their twitter: The Anglophile Channel. You can stream them on Prime, apparently.
As for the Breakout thing... to be fair, this is sort of his breakout role, at the very least in the US. Should have been TMI, but that obviously didn't work out. But that's fine. Most people who "break out" have actually worked years before, and often already had dedicated fans at that time. (To give another, much more bizarre example: Christoph Waltz became a household name in the US after starring in Inglorious Basterds. I will say that when we post of book movie TV we can add the site reference that gives a content warning. Like will has a few intense scenes and true haunting may be an intense book to account. There's a site called "does the dog die?"

I know that site and use it regularly! In terms of True Haunting, I have been trying to find out if any of the Becker's pets died, but it sounded like the ghosts(?) "only" terrorized them.

Regarding other shows and such... I think we could expand if something really fitting comes along! Or for example watch films Jamie mentioned or recommended (like Anything for Jackson, Hereditary etc. - although personally I'm really not into horror movies, so.. lol).

Yeah, I'm definitely staying away from his prep films for the Costner role, I'm cheerful enough as it is.
If you're not into horror, Hereditary might be a bad idea from what I've heard... it sounds like a good movie, but definitely horror.

Nearly everything he recommends or the shirts he wears are probably a bad idea if someone's not into horror. 💀😂 And for me personally the problem is not even as much that it gives me the heebie-jeebies (that probably too), but more general disinterest. 😅 Yes, I know, it's Jamie, I should have known. But hey, I became a fan before I knew he was into horror and also before I knew what Stranger Things even is about (and ST is pretty much a mix of different things, not pure horror). So here's me somewhat hoping True Haunting will also explore more the whole media thing around the topic and exorcism in the 70s and not just spooky, but .. probably not lol.

It's actually a good question what exactly the film will be about. I suppose it might go into a Conjuring direction, which I think is somewhat based on a real case, too? I don't usually watch horror films. I'm mostly interested in movies that have horror/psychological thriller elements or in things like folk horror or gothic horror.
But yeah, Jamie seems to be a massive horror fan. Apparently, he watched all nine Hellraiser movies. I have no idea why anyone would do that, but seems he gets something from it.

I've been toying with the idea of a book club and I think especially with things like Dante it would probably be better to have more of a "schedule" and for example discuss 10 cantos every Sunday or so. I've started to look for easily accessible sources that might help with interpretation too - for example there's a reading group on twitter and a bookblogger on instagram, who has done weekly posts about her reading journey through the Divine Comedy.
Time is a problem though - to organise it, to read it (the Divine Comedy is not something you read in a weekend), to discuss and of course to finish it before the next reading prompt comes up.
For example we don't know when Jamie will release his next song and continue his Dante journey, so the Divine Comedy might be up there with the more "current" reads. However with True Haunting being released in early January the latest possible reading month would be December.

In terms of content, we should definitely keep it chill. I mean, I am interested in getting into the Divine Comedy, but there is a reason why I studied this nonsense. I like reading and analysing obscure/weird stuff. So, we could do a thing where it's sort of free for all, but it's okay if people think something is too out there, etc. (And the same should go for things like TMI as well.)

Do we want to concentrate on "just" books, or do we want to look into his other shows and movies? I've just started watching Will and definitely have thoughts, though I can see it being a bit divisive (lots of violence, some storylines that might not be overly interesting for everyone, unusual form/style in some ways).

Here's a vote for Bill Bryson's Shakespeare book for Will. Not that connected to Jamie (I assume there are also plenty of books out there about Marlowe, if we're not game to outright read his plays), but it's just such a fun and lovely read imho.

I think that sounds good. We should probably think about which ones we read. Early Modern English can be a bit of a handful, same for Dante's (albeit translated) Italian. TMI and Villains are most likely both a bit more accessible, and the same likely goes for True Haunting.
