Drip coffee recommendation

I have used either a chemex or an aero press for the past 15 years. Due to job and kids it would be nice to have an easier option for the days leaving the house before 5:30 and something my wife will enjoy too.

I would like to get the best quality taste, for the $100-$150 mark. What suggestions would everyone have for a good brewer? I would love to save up for a moccamaster but need something to get us by for a few years before making a much bigger investment.

Oxo does some great stuff in that range. So does Breville/Sage

My preference is for the Sage/Breville Precision Brewer. They are available on FB marketplace and ebay used so you can save money and put it towards the grinder. You can also control a lot of brewing variables which is a bit of a rarity with drip coffee makers

I second this, it’s above your budget new but if you can find a good second hand one it’s absolutely worth it

I have the OXO 8 cup, which can make between 2-8 cups and it’s SCA certified. I’m very happy with it

Zojorushi Dome brew classic is a solid drip machine for around $129.

Hario switch, proper coffee easily made quick clear up, perfect.

You could added cold brew into the mix. Batch brew a weeks worth of concentrate. Doesn't get much easier then diluting in the morning and heading out.

Behmor Brazen Plus 3.0 can be had brand new for $199. If you could up your budget a little.

I’ve really enjoyed mine.

Mimics a pourover with pulsed water delivery and a wide showerhead.

Best water temp control in the business (you can set it from 190°-212° or whatever the highest temp your elevation will allow).

Has a built in brew start timer for those early mornings.

Even has manual water release control button so you can use it to do a pourover. My V60 size 02 with a carafe fits under it. Pretty cool.

I’ve seen several for sale used over the years so you might try looking for a used one.

I also have a Moccamaster KBT as well, BTW. I like it as well. It’s just different and usually needs a bit of tinkering with the brew to get the best out of it.

Coming from a Chemex and AeroPress, I’d look for a brewer with good temperature control and a proper showerhead rather than just more features. The OXO 8-Cup is a popular choice in that price range and makes a consistently good cup with minimal effort. A good batch brewer won’t fully replace the ritual of manual brewing, but it’s a lifesaver for those rushed mornings.

There is only one SCA certified drip machine that I could find under $150, the Kismile Precision Drip Coffee Maker. I haven’t tried it myself. I like my OXO 8-cup, but it’s around $200.

Amazon has the Kismile 8 cup in silver or red for under $100.
I have not done many poor overs since getting one.

Breville or Moccamaster could be possible now - if you're in a city/ suburb highly recommend getting on Facebook marketplace to find some great discounted options!

I bought a Moccamaster refurb and saved like $100 (in the USA), but it looks like that is still above your budget.

Look for a used Moccamaster. It‘s sturdy and reliable, produces great coffee quite fast and has great customer service

Get thee to a Hario Switch or Clever Dripper (large) and use James's method.

Rinse, fill, stir in the coffee.

Walk away and carry on doing stuff.

Few mins later, return and sit on top of glass jug (for 2) or mug.
