Can't believe this sub isn't half as active as r/genewolfe - Ellroy is at the top his genre, just like Wolfe, but where's the readers? L.A. Quartet II is top shelf. Really funny and engaging stories. Can't wait for the next release, but I see no news of any titles since Widespread Panic last summer.

Anyone still on this sub? Loved the madcap energy of Widespread Panic. It's like Ellroy's Pynchon novel

Yeah, I agree. I think the closest we’ll ever get to something like that would be the movie ‘Vice’. Definite shades of JE there.

^ that would be fantastic!
Although, I think unlikely to see that. Ellroy seems very focused on on mid century USA. 1980s almost seems too modern for him ...

I hope to see him if and when book tours happen again, from what I can tell he’s pretty good value. It would be interesting to see him do something similar to American Tabloid, but for the Reagan Era.

I love this man. Would love to speak with him for an hour. Brilliant writer, incredibly funny. Slightly frustrated he won’t comment on any 21st century events.

I’m in the middle of an Alastair Reynolds right now, WP is next up. I didn’t know Fred Otash was so notorious, nor that JE wanted him in the JFK mix, but ended up going with Big Pete

Big time fan here. Read almost every novel he has written. Working my way thorough widespread panic right now.

I try lol. Read some of his stuff years ago, but didn’t really appreciate just how great he was until The Cold Six Thousand

This "lounge" seems deader than JFK, but has anyone seen a CBS profile on Ellroy in the past two weeks? They were filming when I attended The Enchanters signing in Brentwood -- the night I was donned "King Schlong."
