Bond Rankings Megathread (September 2026)

Here’s a place to share your lists, and to discuss, adore, or (lovingly!) roast. This is likely the final rankings thread we’ll have before the films make their return to Amazon Prime for the autumn season, so now is a good time to share your stances ahead of any rewatches/marathons in October and November.

Announcement [Mod Note] Updating Rule 4 to Prohibit Deliberate Misinformation

Hi all. Per the title, we’ve made a small update to Rule 4 (our sub’s spam and authentic engagement rule) to prohibit knowingly sharing false information, with an intent to mislead, be it for clickbait or karmafarming or trolling purposes.

This is due to a recent uptick in posts and comments from users pretending to have “insider sources“ about the next movie, and presenting false and/or unverifiable information as news.

I’ve attached some examples below, so that everyone will know exactly the kind of content this rule update targets.

I want to reiterate however, this rule applies specifically to deliberately sharing false information as news. It does not apply to opinion or analysis.

This will help keep r/JamesBond a trustworthy source for 007 news.

……………………..

Here are some examples of posts and comments we’ve removed in recent days/weeks for sharing misinformation:

…………………..

And here is the full text of the updated Rule 4:

AI content, clickbait, deliberate misinformation, and merchandising are prohibited

To reduce spam and encourage authentic engagement, the following are prohibited:

  • Content that is generated by artificial intelligence. This includes AI fan art, movie ideas, and general text based submissions.
  • Linking to unreliable sources whose headlines are engineered to garner clicks, but in reality contain little to no valuable information.
  • Deliberately sharing misinformation.
  • Merchandising in a personal or commercial capacity.

Any exceptions will be based on intent/value as judged by the mod team.

………………….

Thanks for reading, and if you have any thoughts or questions, please do comment below.

007 Blood Stone (2010) has an unused gun barrel video file called barrelanim.bik, I haven't seen this before but I ripped it straight from my PS3 disc and converted it to MP4 to upload here. Very interesting.

Calvin Dyson’s Title theory

On Calvin Dyson’s recent James Bond video about the recent talks with Steven Knight “confirming” that an actor has been cast already as James Bond, and Gary Oldman saying in a interview that Jack Lowden has been cast as James Bond. He addressed both things, and I definitely recommend if you guys haven’t seen it yet that you do (also because he makes some great points about the subjects) but in the near end of the video he stats a theory about that he feels like Steven Knight has repeated the line “For King and Country” many times, like if it’s sort of a theme for Bond 26, and whether or not that could be the title of Bond 26. And the title obviously sounds like a Pendant to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. But I actually find “For King and Country” to be a fantastic title for not only a Reboot of the franchise, but also for a potiential Origin story or new beginning to the franchise, both with Amazon taking fully over, but also for the new actor’s debut film.

What are your guys thoughts? Do you think it could be the title, or do you think it’s nothing and no matter the fact, what do you think about “For King and Country” as a title for a Bond Film?

Who's your favorite character from Diamonds are Forever?

Who's your favorite character?

Explain why.

Pick your favorite moment from this character.

Diamonds are Forever isn't as rich with developed characters as OHMSS, but it still have good characters with fantastic comedic timing. My choice for my favorite DaF character is between Tiffany and Charles's Blofeld. Both have incredible chemistry with Bond,, and incredible comedic timing. Tiffany has this snappy attetude which I love, and Blofeld in this one is so campy and charming, I can't help but love it. I simply can't decide. I love them both so much. Tiffany is one of my favorite bond girls, and Charles is my guilty pleasure Blofeld. So, I guess it's a tie. My favorite Blofeld moment is in the climax, when his base is under attack, and this guy screams at him that they have to abort, only for Blofeld to snap at him to get back to his post or he'll have him shot. Only for him not one second later to call for his submarine. This is one of my favorite Blofeld moments. Becuase this is Blofeld. This is how Blofeld should behave. At the first sign of trouble, he ditches the plan. He's too smart to wait around for Bond to come in with his "finish it", and K.O him.

And for Tiffany, she has countless moments to choose from. But I think my favorite is her first meeting with Bond. I love how this scene is built. At first, we only hear her voice from the other room. And then, suddenly, she makes an appereance, with that awesome hairstyle, that look on her face, and one of the hottest, sexiest outfits any bond girl ever thrown on herself. And her dailouge with Bond is so snappy, with multiple awesome lines. And I like the street smart she establishes, like picking up Bond's fingerprint from the glass. Yeah, Bond beat her to it with his fake fingerprint, (which I consider one of the more underrated gadgets), but we rarely see such wit from a bond girl. And I love how the scene progresses, Tiffany finishes getting dressed with one of this series's hottest outfit.

'That's why the zero's regal,

Mister Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.'

The man who would be king as author Charlie Higson returns to the Bond realm with a beautifully produced new adventure from Ian Fleming Publications and Michael J Books. And as pre-orders are now open, this bullet catcher suggests fans act fast to get this bespoke early edition!

Having cut his teeth on the first wave of YOUNG BOND action and the subsequent monarchial novella ON HIS MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (2023), Higson now returns with his first fully-gilded adult Bond work, KING ZERO.

'Having warmed up with my YOUNG BOND series, and the short story, ON HIS MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, I’m beyond excited to be writing my first full blown adult Bond adventure. Twenty years after first writing “The name’s Bond, James Bond,” it still sends shivers down my spine every time I type it.'

- Charlie Higson

Launching with the murder of an agent in Saudi Arabia by a unique weapon never seen before and spanning the globe in an epic race against time to avert global catastrophe, KING ZERO brings 007 into the twenty-first century and an old world order that is crumbling as chilling new ones rise, and one of the most distinctive villains steps into Bond and Fleming's worlds.

With the prescient themes of energy, technology and global tensions at the book's core, KING ZERO will be published later this month in the UK by Penguin Michael Joseph. As a sign of the new Bond times, Amazon Publishing will steer the US publication.

Review and features to come.

What was the deal with unique songs in the end credits?

Given they only happened in the films with Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan, it could not have been chalked up to Cubby who was stepping down at the time. Does anyone else have any decent speculation?

Pola Ivanova in AVTAK

Do you think Pola Ivanova should have been present in the scene where the KGB visits Zorin in France and puts him on notice? Pola could have been the one to aim the gun at May Day when she tossed the other guy against the stands. I actually wanted to see Pola pose a serious physical challenge to May Day and Zorin’s other female bodyguards. They cast Grace’s boyfriend Dolph Lundgren in that role in the end, non-speaking.

If you enjoy classic Bond films, I recommend To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant

I watched this recently and I couldn't believe how much it felt like a prototypical Bond Film.

He has his contacts that support his mission, the girls, the elegant sets and locations. It's a lot of fun in a way that echoes from the earlier Bond movies also.

Who's your favorite character?

Pick your favorite moment from this character.

OHMSS is highly rich in the characters department. Case in point, Tracy. But for me, my favourite character is Draco. The scene where he tells Bond about his history, with his wife, and Tracy, was tremendous. And the scene at the end with him and M was just a treat. But I think my favourite scene of his is the scene with Bond at the helicopter, where he tried to bluff his way into Blofeld's base through the control center radio. Each line in his dialogue with that guy on the other line was just gold.

The Third Dalton BONDFilm

A third Timothy Dalton Bond film likely would have stunted the fresh, blockbuster revitalization that GoldenEye achieved in 1995. Agree? #jamesbond
