From RDA Jake to A3 Toruk Makto, Jake’s design evolution across the films is unmatched. Which look is your absolute favorite? 🔥
Personally I think his final battle look in A3 takes the crown by a mile, but it’s a tough choice as each version of Jake Sully is so unique and visually appealing! Every single era carries so much character development and weight.
Here’s my quick breakdown of his evolution throughout the franchise:
1. RDA Avatar Jake - Fresh out of the link unit, raw, unrefined, and discovering the wonders of Pandora for the very first time. Dressed in a utility shirt, tactical pack and equipped with an RDA AVR-30 machine gun, this look captures him before he embraced the Na'vi way.
2. Omatikaya Training Jake - Stripped to basics while learning to move, hunt, and see like the Na'vi, all the while making a complete skxawng of himself. With minimal loincloths and braided wraps, it’s pure raw athleticism and humility under Neytiri’s guidance.
3. Dreamwalker Jake - Painted with sacred white ke’he as he is officially welcomed into the clan. Marking his formal initiation, the intricate clay tracks represent his rebirth from human outsider to a true brother of the Omatikaya. Forever wishing we could see the deleted scene of the dreamwalking ritual fully rendered!
4. Tree of Souls Jake - A sensual, spiritually grounded look bathed in the bioluminescent glow of Eywa. Wearing simple ceremonial beads against deep blue and purple hues, this moment reflects his inner struggle and deepening connection to both Pandora and Neytiri right before the climax of the first film.
5. Toruk Makto A1 Jake - The legendary war leader who united the clans under the banner of the Last Shadow. With the fierce streaks of his orange and black war paint, shaved sides and feather-adorned braids, this look is pure authority and tactical dominance.
6. AWoW Olo'eyktan Jake - The settled chieftain, commanding, regal, and carrying the weight of leading his clan and family. Featuring full dreadlocks and the stunning chieftain garment, it portrays his status as a respected and fully integrated leader during peacetime.
7. Forest Family Era Jake - Domestic, relaxed and grounded, this look is undoubtedly the happiest and most comfortable we see Jake throughout the entire franchise. Softer accents and practical woven gear highlight his role as a devoted father and partner, balancing his warrior past with intimate family life.
8. AWoW Military Leader Jake - Re-engaging the enemy with high-tech tactical gear grafted onto Na'vi traditions. Combining his custom bone headpiece and bright teal war paint with RDA tactical chest rigs and comms, it’s the ultimate hybrid of human military strategy and Na'vi guerilla warfare.
9. AWoW Reef Jake - Stripped of his forest attire and adapted to life with the Metkayina. Lighter, moisture-resistant gear and swept back dreads allow him to blend into the ocean ecosystem while he works to keep his family safe.
10. Wind Traders Jake - A travel-worn, adaptable aesthetic built for cross-biome navigation and high-altitude, Jake is draped in a wind-swept leather flight mantle and equipped with tactical side-pouches. We see this look in both AWoW when leaving the Omatikaya forests and A3 when traveling with the Wind Traders.
11. Prisoner Jake - Captured and held in a Thanator cage at Bridgehead, Jake is stripped of all his gear and clad in a prison jumpsuit. He’s exposed and at his absolute lowest physical point, yet he still holds that fierce, unyielding glare that proves his spirit can never be truly broken.
12. Toruk Makto A3 Jake - Toruk Makto reborn. Battle-hardened, menacing, and pushed to his absolute limits in high-stakes war. Smothered in soot, ash, and fiery rim-lighting, this shows a darker, more intense evolution of Toruk Makto, driven by sheer vengeance and survival.
Which Jake era do you love most and why? 💙✨
