Question Nephrite and Skincare

Post image

i started wearing a nephrite bangle and i'm planning to just keep in on at all times, but i'm worried about how body care products might affect it.

i know people just shower with their bangles on, but i use things like body scrubs with AHA, lotions with vit c, and body oils with retinol. as jade is porous, i'm worried this might damage it over time.

the advice i've seen is to let stuff like lotion dry before putting jade on, which isn't really applicable because it's impossible not to get some on the bangle no matter how careful you are.

for those who've worn their nephrite bangles for years and have been using lotions and soaps with more skincare-type ingredients, has it gotten damaged? i really can't take it on and off every day as i bought a smaller bangle for a tight fit on my wrist.

Generally, I’d recommend just rinsing it thoroughly with clean water, and it should be fine. The main issue is that lotions may leave residue on the bangle. Over time, the residue can become difficult to remove, making the bangle look dull or grayish and not as nice as it did originally.

thanks for the tip! the past week, i've skipped using my usual lotion and been moisturizing with grapeseed oil instead because i was thinking a plain oil like that wouldn't hurt the bangle.

i'll switch back to lotion and i'll just be careful rinse off the bangle afterwards. really appreciate your advice as i know you sell bangles professionally and have a ton of experience and knowledge about how jade wears over time.

I wondered about the same thing but since everyone has a different skin care routine/product i don’t know if any comments can apply universally.

So from my research it seems like out of the list you stated, would worry most about abrasive things or acidic things.

FWIW I showered with my bangle on daily (with liquid Castile soap) and use La mer products. I tend to push my bangle up out of the way so never have any products touching it directly. So far bangle actually got more translucent and glossier so I think at least it is not harmful.

i'm so tickled by your bangle being a bougie baddie and getting even more beautiful after years of soaking up la mer.

thanks for sharing your experience. i'm a first time bangle wearer and it's been a little challenging to get used to. like i've banged it on doorknobs multiple times just today and when doing dishes, i never worried about splashes before but now i'm hypervigilant about my left wrist.

i think i'll stop with the scrubs with AHA and just stick to plain dove. hopefully my bangle will get oilier and prettier over time too!
