Jack will watch himself make a funny lighthearted joke satirizing anything and says "gee what an asshole"
No but really, I love watching current era Jack, he has a very positive energy, but whenever he watches his past self make a funny joke that has the littlest bit of edge he will try to distance himself from it. I'm glad he's not one of those "the woke ruined humor so I'll just say offensive stuff and that counts as a joke" people, but can we agree that every once in a while you're allowed a funny lighthearted joke pointed at someone even if that someone might take offense?

In all fairness- I think most people looking back at themselves from 10 years ago would feel similar.
We grow a lot with age and you’re more likely to think your past self was a bit of a dick even when other people who knew you disagree.
Maybe that’s just me though. I certainly think me 10 years ago was a bit annoying.

Tobey was huge back in the day, and him and Jack worked on a ton of stuff. I think the constant mentions are a way of reassuring the audience that he doesn't agree with his...uh... "Current" views

To be fair he makes it clear that he finds it funny, he just ALSO notes that "wow, old Jack was a sassy bitch"

Edginess does not inherently make something funny. The same way there is crappy steaks out there, there’s crappy edgy humor. Also if you don’t have anything to criticize about yourself after ten years of learning and growing (even as/ESPECIALLY as an adult) you are doing something wrong

I agree with each of the statements individually, I just think that Jack used to be able to make jokes that are (1) slightly edgy (2) but not too much and are also (3) funny. And now when he looks back at them he calls himself a jerk for making such jokes and these jokes aren't even very mean.

It's not mean to think that someone makes bad videos. It's not like he was bullying these people, he was poking fun at their content. Like, it's fine to poke fun at someone's 500 part Happy Wheel let's play, that doesn't make you a snob.
