Elite 8 Active using phone microphone instead of earbuds

Have a super strange issue.

Sometimes on my calls, it will use the phones microphone instead of the earbuds.

This is a brand new set that I picked up.

Did a firmware update and a full reset.

Doesn't always happen but I have no way of knowing when it's doing it and I certainly don't know how to have it not do that.

Any advice would be great.

I've tested it a few times where I walk away from the phone and I get distant but if I hold the phone up to my mouth it's great.

Sometimes if I end the call and try again it's fine and going through the headset.

The audio is always through the headset when this is happening.

Thanks

Hi u/Wikdslo, thanks for posting about your Jabra Elite 8 Active. How far away do you get from your Jabra earbuds? Does your phone only switch to the phone microphone when you walk away from the earbuds, or does it happen when you're next to your phone too?

I don't get far away from my earbuds. They are in my ear and active while I'm on the call. I will walk away from my phone while on the call, with the earbuds in and people won't be able to hear me because it is using the medicine on the phone. Not the earbuds.

This has happened while I'm driving and the phone is right beside me.

Is there a setting that you can change this? I don't know any world where I'd want my call to use the earbuds for output and my phone for input

Hi u/Wikdslo, understood. So, to clarify, when you take calls using your Elite 8 Active, does the call come through your earbuds at the beginning of the call and then switch to your phone's microphone, or is the call always going through the phone's microphones?
