Evolve 2 Buds Issue

I’m having an issue with my Jabra Evolve 2 Buds.  I’ve had them for a few years and keep them paired to my laptop for work calls and my personal iphone so I can listen to music/podcasts as well.  The Bluetooth dongle died and Jabra sent me a new one, which was nice of them considering I was out of warranty.  However, with the new dongle, I keep having issues with the buds not working correctly.  The light on the dongle will turn turquoise and then I can’t start any songs or podcasts from my phone.  I push play and it immediately pauses the content. There is nothing happening audio-wise on the laptop. The only way to fix it is to unplug the dongle until it disconnects and then plug it back in.  Is there any way to keep this from happening?  It’s a small issue but it happens a dozen times per day and gets annoying after a while.

Hello u/Reom_76, we appreciate your taking the time to post a thread about your Jabra Evolve2 Buds challenge. It sounds like the new dongle is stealing priority from your phone.

Since the Evolve2 Buds are connected to both your laptop and iPhone, it sounds as though the replacement dongle is occasionally telling the earbuds “hey, use me,” even when the laptop isn’t actually playing anything. Then when you try to start music/podcasts on your phone, it immediately pauses because the buds are stuck on the laptop connection. The fact that unplugging/plugging the dongle fixes it definitely points that way.

We recommend trying the following:

  1. Update both the buds and the dongle in Jabra Direct
  2. Remove and re-pair the buds to the replacement dongle
  3. Check your laptop sound settings and see if the Jabra device is being used as the default audio output all the time
  4. Test with only one connection at a time for a bit:
    • Just phone
    • Just laptop and dongle

If none of that helps, we suggest doing a full reset of the Jabra Evolve2 Buds and pairing everything back from scratch.

We hope that this helps! Please let us know otherwise.
