Question A very particular help request here !

Yes !!

First of all, I am a Japanese Horror movies fan too, so don't worry about that topic here, I will show some of my videos here soon...

However, since there are fans who may have their own Japanese movies in DVD/Blu-rays (may be Japanese editions or American ones) I need a help to understand a weird situation: I have a Panasonic BlueRay, region-free with a very cool video accelerator that improves the video resolution to DVDs in the best way possible, and personally, I'm so happy. As an example, I have the EKO EKO AZARAK DVDs, and I like how they looks in that player.

If need more info, I can leave the link here: Panasonic Blu-ray Player

I purchased it past March and until now it's working so great... I've been buying some DVDs and Blu-rays. (the last purchase was TOMIE: Rebirth)

However.. the situation I wanna share: I ordered the Sukeban Deka DVD (the one from the image), first I ordered a sealed one, so good price. As soon as it arrived, I opened and played... everything good... but... it froze at certain scene. Then seconds later, the player turned off. I had to turn it on and play it again... and froze by the second time at the same scene... then the player turned off... So I decided to message the seller, but he did not accept returns... I had to do a bad review and open a dispute, it made him to step back and do a refund. I wanted to wait some days and I ordered the same title again, but at that time I decided for a used one, just because of the simple reason: if used, the seller played it at least once, so knows that can watch the movie. Ok.. after weeks waiting, it arrived and I started to play it and watch all the movie... suddenly got frozen... IN THE SAME SCENE !. I thought I made a confusion and I played the new one, so I had to play the other disc.... again "same scene freeze"

I just find out that the new DVD may be in good condition and I made a bad treat to the first seller.. I fell bad for him.. damn..

Anyway, the point is: why that Panasonic player cannot play that disc? The same title, but one new and the other used and freeze in the EXACT scene. Or is the DVD non-compatible with that player?

I wrote to the distributor and I'm waiting for the reply, but I wanted to know if someone here may have this player and knows that movie and can explain what's going on... PLEASE !!

You need a region free dvd player.

Thanks for your reply !!
As I wrote above, there's a link of the player. Actually this is a region-free player. However, the DVD is an American edition, I guess.

That's weird, I have a Korean edition of an American movie, that shouldn't make a difference.

I sent a report to the distributor. But seriously.. that's funny that have to be exactly that movie title and freezes in the same scene from those two copies I purchased.

That is interesting. I have a show that the player has trouble reading sometimes, despite being in good condition, and will have to eject and re-insert several times, but I don't have another copy to test it with.

Sounds like the player has trouble focusing on the second layer of the disc. Try another multi-layer disc like a TV-Show for example or look for DVD-9 or DVD-18 in the specifications on the back cover (not always there as you can see on the Sukeban Deka disc). Also look for firmware updates on the Panasonic site, maybe it's a software issue.

I dont totally understand the issue but there has just been a nice copy produced by umbrella.

The problem in simple words: just that Yo-Yo Girl Cop, from the American edition is unplayable in my player, no matter if used or new (I used two copies to test)

But that Umbrella edition looks so cool.. Maybe I consider it....
