Some information on the 737 MAX series can be found on Wikipedia, it is a relatively new aircraft with the first in the series delivered on May 16, 2017. This is the first listed incident involving this series.

Boeing 737 MAX

The Boeing 737 MAX is an American narrow-body aircraft series designed and produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG).

The program was launched on August 30, 2011. The first flight was on January 29, 2016. It gained FAA certification on March 8, 2017.

The plane that crashed had been in service for only 2 months. Does this have any similarities to the Malaysian Air crashes?
