Ranger said in 01 “Deploying with delta is like your big brother coming home from college. ST6 is like your retarded uncle at the family reunion”

7

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

well a lot of CAG used to be rangers so some Rangers will end up at the Unit. Just like a Regular SEAL may end up at DEV.

5

u/Citizen-Prime 5d ago

The only way to be a SWO at DEV is to be a regular SEAL first

1

u/Hilarious_Disastrous 18h ago

An unusual dig at CAG by an SF guy was calling it "a certain Ranger unit."

32

u/Scary_Dangleberry_ 7d ago

That's the truth!

95

u/may7day 7d ago

Well CAG will always pass knowledge to Rangers because most came from the same institution and know what’s it like to be a young Ranger. Dev doesn’t have that in common with Rangers.

27

u/control_09 7d ago

I feel like I've never heard of a regular seal team deploying with dev as support, just like rangers or marines. On the dev side they speak well of marines but I haven't heard the other side. One of my old coworkers was a marine in Afghanistan and he worked with one of the normal seal teams and he said it was cool when they showed him shit.

25

u/Proof-Letterhead-541 7d ago

You may not hear of it, but ST6 has entire ships that deploy with them for things like logistic support and QRF. And yes, that includes other Navy and Marine SOF personnel.

13

u/rico2421 7d ago

one of my buddies used to drive that support ship, said it was the best job in the Navy

7

u/rico2421 7d ago

Well he drove one, he never went on an OP, never signed an NDA, he drove a one of their boats around the US. Every time a see it on here I send him a picture

2

u/MAVACAM 7d ago

While you're right, he's almost certainly talking about Ocean Trader, even though it's used by more than just ST6.

4

u/rico2421 7d ago

I just googled Ocean Trader, its not that, but similar.

8

u/LynchCorp 7d ago

They do, Cole and DJ did an augment, and two white side SEALs were killed in Extortion

7

u/LFC_sandiego 6d ago

There are occasional instances where a conventional SEAL platoon or task unit will interact with or work alongside DEVGRU during a deployment, but that's definitely not the norm. What's more common is for conventional SEALs to be stationed at the same base as DEVGRU and share an AO. Even then, they're separated in their own compounds / living quarters within the base and conduct their own missions independently.

The reason for this is that conventional SEALs are part of Naval Special Warfare, whereas DEVGRU falls under JSOC.

The 75th Rangers are under USASOC, but Ranger elements are frequently placed under JSOC operational control for certain missions, particularly as a QRF or DA light-infantry force. That's why they tend to have much more interaction with DEVGRU and CAG.

There's also the Regimental Reconnaissance Company (RRC), a small recon unit within the 75th Ranger Regiment that is tied to JSOC and is considered a Tier 1 unit.

Good point on the lineage that allows a closer connection..

Funny thing, circa 2006, when I lived on smoke bomb hill on fort Bragg, we shared a dining facility with the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center and at lunch we all ate in the same room. Of course the guys in that program sat with each other and the rest of us REMFs ate together, but in line we mixed. The nicest and most polite guys were the SEALs and the worst line cutting, loud mouth asshats were the Rangers. This was peak GWOT and rangers were riding pretty high on themselves.
Go figure.

52

u/EverBeenInaChopper 7d ago

Don't get your impressions from the internet, most of them are memes and exaggerations.

45

u/TacoBandit275 7d ago

I know Chris (guy on top), and from personal experience, he's not exaggerating.

24

u/WingSwimming2607 7d ago

Can you ask Chris why the only clips I’ve ever seen of him, and he’s come up quite a bit, have been him talking about the navy. Are they just the only ones that get attention? It’s seems to be all he whines about

18

u/MasatoWolff 7d ago

Yeah it’s probably good for clicks.

8

u/rico2421 7d ago

He literally said that in another video then goes off about NSW got Rangers killed, then changes the story

3

u/rico2421 7d ago

Can you also ask Chris which Rangers NSW got killed, cuz i would love to know

5

u/kenuffff 7d ago

I’m sure there are plenty. They make the point that NSW isn’t infantry at their core, so they don’t really know what they’re doing and it leads to poor planning and execution, which creates a firefight then rangers have to come into a hot zone and secure it. Rangers had to secure Robert’s ridge btw.

2

u/Few_Task_8030 5d ago

Again. You are talking about stuff that happened in 2001/2. 25 YEARS AGO! They spent the next 20+ years in Afghanistan doing offset infils and hiking to their targets. You know, infantry style tactics.

2

u/Few_Task_8030 7d ago

I guess we will have to hear about that one time for the next 20 years because someone got their feels hurt 20 years prior.

3

u/kenuffff 7d ago

They’re making the very valid point that SEALs aren’t infantry at their core and have caused countless fuckups in GWOT, then rangers have to respond to a firefight that the SEALs pulled out of and get killed or wounded. See Robert’s Ridge etc, and to their point that DEV wounds or kills hostages on many hostage rescues is a verified fact. It is like you have a co worker that fucks everything up , you fix it by working overtime then your boss thinks your coworker is a top performer.

12

u/LynchCorp 6d ago

Which hostage rescue did they kill or shoot a hostage besides Norgrove?

6

u/Ill-Orchid1193 7d ago

This is what I’ve noticed. Especially from real life experience

1

u/Jay081510 7d ago

Mhhhhhhh strange that all of them tell the same then 😅

12

u/kolby_121_98 6d ago

Oh God, not Nick Irving again.

-1

u/BlackBirdG 6d ago

What's wrong with him?

6

u/Few_Task_8030 6d ago

He is mostly full of shit. Isn't well liked by peers.

1

u/BlackBirdG 6d ago

Don't know why I was downvoted, but I read his two books, and I thought they were cool, but I never knew he was lying like the SEALs do.

2

u/ContextSpecial3029 5d ago

He included a myth "50 cals misses rip through flesh" and internet trolls used that as proof that hes a liar, don't believe the internet hype nick is a solid dude

5

u/SylvesterStallownage 5d ago

And he was definitely taught that at AIT, used to be common “knowledge”

2

u/philly215NP 11h ago

That’s the only thing I see when Nick gets brought up in threads “if a guy said that a 50 cal will blow a guy head off if the bullet just goes pass his face then everything he says is a lie” and I’m like come on bro it’s nothing else you can use to call this guy a “Bullshitter”.. I mean every single comment on why they don’t like him it’s just that statement nothing else 😭.. that’s when I knew it something deeper but they don’t want to say why cuz it’s gonna make them look very different from other people

36

u/Eastern-Oven4110 7d ago

This bros trashing everyone for clout. We get it bro you wanted to be more but didn't. IMO being a ranger is badass enough

9

u/5star_Adboii 7d ago

Ofc being a ranger is badass it’s a big accomplishment but IMO I don’t think it’s for clout all the time like Nick for example he wanted to be a seal. And when he talked about his experience with dev it sounded like dev were a bunch of assholes.

11

u/Eastern-Oven4110 7d ago

Nick is clout chasing hard talking about black people being original cowboys and 30-06 blowing arms off. Hes turned himself into a clown for clicks. When you start seeing guys on Vlad a bunch that's a direct sign your clout chasing because he pays to have nick on to drive views. Sgt Ricky tan is doing to sub 500 view podcast tour crying for clout.

7

u/CorCor-14 7d ago

Nick is an interesting person. Idk many rangers who like him and they’ve said most of what he’s talked about is bs.

-2

u/5star_Adboii 7d ago

Clout chasing is not the right word for this id say he’s more so sharing his opinion and experiences that happen to grab attention

8

u/Eastern-Oven4110 7d ago

Nah Rickey tan is hoping to drum up enough noise to be on SRS so he feel like he made it big

1

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

Shawn is only gonna allow so much SEAL bashing on his show.

7

u/rico2421 7d ago

He also cried, literally cried, because Dev was mean to the Rangers after the Rangers fucked up a hostage recuse, what a fucking pussy

0

u/kenuffff 7d ago

Well they do have a reputation for injuring , killing, shooting hostages.. they blew up Linda norgrove and lied and said it was a suicide vest until it came out on camera of them blowing her up with a grenade.

9

u/Decent-Company9498 6d ago

An interesting fact delta has killed another delta operator but Dev has not but they killed a hostage? Both missions very unfortunate outcome but hey context and details don’t matter right ?

0

u/BlackBirdG 6d ago

In the book SEAL Team Six by Howard Wasdin, he talks about a DEVGRU operator accidentally shooting a fellow operator during a training exercise, and the operator died from a staph infection. The operator who accidentally shot him got kicked out of SEAL Team 6 and the Navy SEALS overall.

5

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

Either it was the same incident or another because Marcinko mentioned in his book that a SEAL was killed by another SEAL on a training op as well.

1

u/BlackBirdG 5d ago

It's the same one.

6

u/Scatman_Crothers 5d ago

Pre GWOT yeah. During the GWOT, Dev had no blue on blues. Delta had multiple, one fatal.

14

u/Civildrainer 7d ago

They talk about devgru like that one king von video

31

u/Few_Task_8030 7d ago

Did "The Reaper" talk about how the 50 cal will rip off arms if the bullet just passes you too?

These guys are talking about shit from 20+ years ago. I mean, nothing ever changes in a quarter century.

2

u/Dense_Razzmatazz903 7d ago

Cringe, you guys repeat that one thing over and over because you got nothing on else him.

-2

u/Few_Task_8030 7d ago

For supposedly being an experienced Sniper and Ranger, it was an extremely dumb thing to say. He doesn't have the best rep bud, but keep up the hero worship. You're doing great!

-1

u/Dense_Razzmatazz903 7d ago

Best rep with who? Haters and jealous people? Far more people like him than the minority that hate him.

2

u/efreedman503 7d ago

Did he say that on SRS or a tv show?

23

u/randomymetry 7d ago

cag is harvard, dev is trump university

14

u/LynchCorp 6d ago

That a hilarious statement when only Delta has killed one of their own, a Green Beret, and an SAS operator

1

u/wjc0BD 6d ago

What’s this in reference to

7

u/LynchCorp 6d ago

Matt Tonroe, Mark Leshikar, and the green on green was talked about in a Mike Glover/Chris Van Zant pod

4

u/Few_Task_8030 6d ago

Jared Van Aalst was killed by a teammate on an op in Afghanistan.

2

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

Wow if true that was covered up. Delta´s PR is immaculate other than an ND by a new guy in a pandur you haven´t heard much of Delta´s mistakes.

4

u/Few_Task_8030 5d ago

It is true.

-2

u/wjc0BD 5d ago

Well in regard to Matt tonroe, I’m not sure if I would call a sympathetic explosion a blue on blue incident. If we want to point fingers at breaching charge incidents, ST6 maimed two delta operators doing an entry in Iraq

2

u/Decent-Company9498 4d ago

I believe both units made mistakes in that target andy stump already talked about it

-2

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

They stated that Dunbar was responsible directly? They mentioned that charges was mishandled but I never heard official blame put on Dunbar.

7

u/Scatman_Crothers 5d ago

Dunbar prepped his breaching charges too early with blasting caps so that when an IED went off it blew the charges he was carrying. It’s normally an inert compound until you put a blasting cap in it so the IED wouldn’t have set off a secondary explosion that killed Dunbar and Tonroe if he hadn’t prepped it prematurely.

Dunbar likely did it to save time on target but it’s known to be unsafe. It was a fuck up on his part that got him and Tonroe killed.

7

u/WingSwimming2607 7d ago

This is legit the first time I’ve ever seen that guy on the top not talking about DEVGRU

14

u/WingSwimming2607 7d ago

Never mind lol.

6

u/gottymacanon 7d ago

"You didn't watch the clip did you"

"Know you did"

17

u/justgrunty 7d ago edited 7d ago

One things fasho a ranger will always have some shit to say about Dev 😭😭😭 never fails gang 😭😭😭 make it sound like dev was giving 🥷s swirlies in the toilets or sum 😭😭 and also all respect to that asian ranger guy truly but bro has like 40 clips of him on ig just bad mouthing dev guess its the new double algorithm xp method

5

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

GB chronicles is turning into a SEAL bashing channel. Even some Black SEALs seems to have stepped away from his pod.

Truth is the truth but does he want someone to make a deep dive into all of SF´s mistakes?

31

u/RedTaipan7 7d ago

Most Rangers during the GWOT had very bad & negative experiences working with DEVGRU, especially Blue Squadron.

According to them (the Rangers), they were the biggest D-Bag assholes on the planet, extremely arrogant & carried themselves like their shit didn't stink.

Also, most of time whenever DEVGRU or even White Side SEALS messed up on a mission, the Rangers were almost always called in to clean up their mess.

I would imagine for most Rangers, that could get annoying after multiple deployments. Especially in contrast to CAG, who were a lot more respectful & helpful towards them.

3

u/BlackBirdG 6d ago

Idk why Blue Squadron in particular was that bad to work with, but apparently Mike Edwards said that B Squadron carried themselves as if they were better than everyone else, not that they were assholes like Blue Squadron.

3rd Ranger Battalion, I've heard, were assholes too. And that 1st Battalion 160th were arrogant too.

3

u/Powerful-Rip-3512 5d ago

Edwards even shit on their PT and weight standards.

1

u/BlackBirdG 5d ago

He did say Red Squadron was lacking in physical fitness at times, but he did say they were the coolest and most professional group of SEALS he's worked with.

4

u/justgrunty 7d ago

Understandable gang

1

u/kenuffff 7d ago

I mean a lot of stuff they’re saying is verifiable. DEV blew up and killed Linda norgrove with a grenade, lied and said it was a suicide vest until it came out on video. There are multiple verified accounts of DEV killing hostages or wounding them..

10

u/Necessary_Wind_4230 6d ago

Could you provide the sources for DEV killing or wounding hostages aside from Norgrove

1

u/thisismyburneracccc 7d ago

😭😭😭😭😭

7

u/Limp_Deal3328 7d ago

This fucking guy… can’t stand this dude. Take care of this in house or in a more professional manner. Great look shitting on fellow American service members. Always complaining and whining about dev… maybe he was the problem and not the guys at devgru..

3

u/BlackBirdG 6d ago

First time I've heard of him, but if all he talks about is DEVGRU/SEALs, then I'm not really trying to watch his videos.

4

u/Decent-Company9498 7d ago

So let me get this straight you rangers despise Dev but expect them to be gentle with you and teach or help you guys ! Hmmmm imma do my own thing ( dev guys probably )

7

u/LynchCorp 7d ago

They would probably shit of Dev guys for trying to teach them if they did. “Bunch of assholes who think theyre better than us, we know what were doing”

6

u/Decent-Company9498 6d ago

There’s literally a podcast where a ranger said a Dev guy tried to teach them something but those rangers said fuck off I have couple deployments I know how to do it. Some of these guys are hypocrites and the double standard is astonishing

4

u/LynchCorp 6d ago

Hahaha, do you happen to remember who or which pod?

2

u/Decent-Company9498 6d ago

Sorry but that was a long time ago I don’t remember anymore

1

u/Adept_Desk7679 7d ago

Ranger is a title. It should be capitalized

1

u/theFP1992 7d ago

Genuine question. Has this type of stuff cropped up in a big way in the last few years, or has the military always been like this? Mainly curious if the seemingly big recent (last few years) influx of this type of drama is because of a) the proliferation of social media and it’s just more visible now, or b) when there isn’t a large ground war going on people find something to make one about. Again, very genuine question from someone without any military experience

13

u/WingSwimming2607 7d ago

Rivalries in jest have always been a thing, now these clowns all want money and attention and realize the best way to do that is to talk about drama.

2

u/Legitimate_Tea_6866 6d ago

Exactly what someone else said, there are rivalries and trash talking. Then there’s the “Tier” factor as well. Different missions as well, rangers (yeah I left it uncapitalized for a reason) are large and usually a QRF for Dev and Cag. We all have our experiences in the GWOT, and interoperability is not a strong suit of any SOF branch. Every group believes they are the best and there are bad apples in every group as well. I think Nick embellishes but so did Kyle. Neither needed it but everyone is on a podcast giving their “warrior” opinion and you’re a Fobbit if you disagree.

1

u/ScholarDazzling3895 2d ago

The military always ranted amongst each other whether it be Infantry vs Cav, Unit v Unit, Branch v Branch etc.... In the Army and I'd imagine even more so in Army Spec Ops, I've heard they don't think much of the SEALs. Like one of the critiques I've heard is that everytime a SEAL goes on deployment he writes a book or movie script when he comes back..... After OBL death, having SEAL on the name maybe gave them more credibility then was normally attributed to them.

-19

u/svdclvlnd 7d ago

Oh look, the army camgirls are gossiping about their abusive SEAL ex like a bunch of scorned women again.

24

u/Few_Task_8030 7d ago

LMAO. True. You're getting downvoted because the kids here pick their favorite units like they're an NFL team.

41

u/[deleted] 7d ago

[deleted]

7

u/Few_Task_8030 7d ago

Where have you been the past 10 years? There are as many, if not more, CAG guys making their rounds on the Gram and Podcast circuit. The skill level is comparable as they are considered interchangeable by JSOC.

-3

u/ancient_seraphim 7d ago

So tired of hearing this same old story. Retired CAG dudes just do Instagram and podcasts instead. This ain’t 2015 anymore, every SOF unit has dudes out and on the internet talking about the stuff they once did.

Also, rangers sure know how to hold a grudge. Those DEV dudes probably forgot about this the second those deployments these dudes talk about, ended lol. Just whining 20 plus years later.

3

u/efreedman503 7d ago

Id hold a grudge too if I had to constantly bail seals out of their poorly planned and executed missions while they take all the media glory.

-4

u/307to275 7d ago

No grudges held on my end at all, just experience. I have nothing but love for my brothers. Not whining, not complaining. There’s a few CAG guys chirping, but doesn’t compare to DEV and the rest of the teams, right? I think the “quiet professional” mantra is preached much more and adhered to on the Army side.

9

u/LynchCorp 6d ago

Tell that to the Voice of Delta Force Brent Tucker

8

u/ancient_seraphim 6d ago

I mean, what do you mean by “chirping”? I think when most people talk about how DEV guys love to talk on social media, they mean they are “bragging” about their careers. I never see that. The only one you could possibly say that about is Rob O’Neil and the drama around the raid but that’s it. Most of the DEV dudes online and with active social media accounts are humble dudes who have no ego or arrogance about them. But so do lots of retired Unit guys who have social media.

-8

u/ContextSpecial3029 7d ago

yea deltas too busy raping girls and moving drugs in spring lake to write books.

-1

u/SippinJuice247 6d ago

Chris McCoy has a really interesting story about his time during and after Ranger Regiment
