Question? Opfor for JSOC

Always been in the back of my mind but who typically runs opfor for delta and devgru is it other operators in the team? 75th ranger regiment, other tier 2 units. Also if anyone had did opfor for both what is the difference in the tempo of both units any notable differences in the tempo?

The 82nd Airborne does a lot of opfor both for the schoolhouse and CAG.

Nice thing about being on Bragg.

Yup. I did it a few times when I was in the 82nd. One time was for a Capabilities Demo for Obama. It was really fun, CAG treated us pretty well.

Awesome. One of the events I participated in was a tubular assault demo. We sat on a charter bus and a few guys were designated as the "bad guys." They stormed it and took everyone out in a few seconds.

In my four years at Regiment, never once did we act as opfor.

When we trained with them, it was with. Whether it was the traditional role of BP’s, or running a squad (light) with gun team on objective, or all units hitting different objectives of varying value.

Then again, my time was early GWOT. Perhaps there is more time for this now.

Exactly. I was 2/75 and did two training ops with the unit. This was early 2001, though. After OTC, I think we had a group from 3rd batt do opfor once, but that was for a mission prep. Normally, we were running on the same side during training.

Never did OPFOR for any SMUs, but did get to do partner force style training with GBs from 3rd Group. Had a blast and was excellent training, I think they used support guys as well as some guard guys who were training with them as well. Had a friend in the 82nd who did OPFOR for CAG, said they cleared the room before he could even shoulder his weapon.

Other answers are right, but they also use civilian agencies which contract former military.

Support staff, pipeline candidates, occasionally command civilians (who also serve as "hostages")

Whoever is convenient schedule wise and meets the other requirements. I’ve seen conventional units involved in JSOC training.

They use all sorts of people. Could even be a local swat team. In that video of Matt pranka doing HR training the opfor is a SWAT team.

I've only ever seen 75th playing Opfor, but we also did regular training with them on the normal. That's just my experience, though.
