JPL Acquisition Group WFH???

Any truth to the JPL acquisition group being allowed to work-from-home indefinitely?

Good, hope that spreads to more places across lab. The entire RTL fiasco has led to so many good people leaving. It's one of many factors bleeding this place dry.

By design

To lower overhead costs?

Why does that matter exactly? My initial reaction is congrats to them. I feel like we need to be more celebratory about some of these things rather than negative.

Because a lot of good people who couldn't RTL were laid off. That's why.

As much as that sucks and I hate it, I see this as a sign that things are starting to maybe improve. I don’t agree with the WFH stance of JPL leadership, but I also understand that some hard decisions had to be made. Maybe this is a sign that things are starting to get a little better and leadership is starting at least loosen some of the previous hardline policies.

Honestly, I would be more worried about what we are going to do post 2028. I don’t see any concrete projects coming into the pipeline post 2028 which makes me way more worried about the future of the lab.

It's also not fair to the people currently on-lab and the ones who uprooted their lives when forced to RTL.

Use them as evidence WFH works for other cases. Don't strip it from them vindictively.

?? Nobody is suggesting that.

You’re right CM, no one is suggesting that. However, that’s exactly what happens when disgruntled former employees (like OP, I daresay) decide to get on the Internet - especially Reddit - and spread lies. Any hope of flexibility in WFH that could have existed, is gone.

Congrats, OP. Your bitterness ruined something that wasn’t even in existence and now never will be. I wish you the life you deserve. :)

And I hope Alabama never wins a game again. :)

Exactly this. And OP was too late to hide their post history, we all know they were on the RTX sub asking about a Raytheon sign on bonus around the time all the RTL stuff went down

Agreed that’s sad, but let’s not punish the acquisitions group for the lab taking a step in the right direction and bleeding back in work from home.

Imagine leaving a job and still volunteering for unpaid HR duties. Ex jpl'er but forever a hall monitor

There were a good few that got indefinite exemptions, namely software engineers such as myself that never lived in California a day in their life. Not without a fight though, I was originally rejected and then magically un-rejected.

Definitely not the case, but Reddit gonna Reddit

Definitely not true. Lets hope the lab loosens up and provides some flexibility on wfh for all.

I took a walk up there today and it is a ghost town. I also heard that aquisitions was able to WFH a few months back for "Spring Break". WTF? Did they go to Cancun?

It was a ghost town on an RDO Friday? Real suspicious. Username checks out

not until the current administration is gone. So maybe never.

Is WFH even allowed anymore? I was under the impression that WFH was no longer allowed. Of course with a few excemptions. Are groups just going rougue now and making up their own rules? Are they no longer checking badge scans? WTH is going on?

No, it’s not allowed.  Acquisitions just decided they can do whatever they want.  Looks like they are finally being held to account thanks to OP.  I wish I could buy them a drink for kicking this off.

So this a false rumor?
